All my rom files are in USB. Just takes a few seconds more to load than on SD but the games still run at 60fps. Even something like Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike or Snes9x pushing a game like StarFox with an MSU-1 patch will run at 60fps from USB.

Hi, try this..
Remove all past Retroarch WiiU files from your SD Card.
Download this.. https://buildbot.libretro.com/nightly/nintendo/wiiu/2021-04-15_RetroArch.7z
Extract to root of SD Card.
Load Homebrew Launcher and see if you can see the Apps :)

Hi - appreciate the help, but tried this and still no luck. Just to check - I deleted all retroarch files before copying this over - i.e. in root and in wiiu/apps - assume that`s what you meant as that was the downloaded structure.

File structure on the card looks fine - I really don`t know what the issue is. Only thing I could find was one google post about someone having same issue until they used an SDHC card - but that`s what this one is (and like I say, have tried across a couple of different cards).

Any other ideas would be gratefully received....

Nice :) aren't lists great :P

Amstrad Caprice 32 - Works fine here. (Loading a .dsk file) Games don't autoboot though, even when the option is selected in the Core options?
I can bring up the Keyboard Overlay by pressing "Start + Select" and then pressing "Select" to enable the Mouse Cursor, So in theory I could type out the Run command manually but sheesh that will be a pain in the ass to do for every game :P

Amstrad Croc DS - Same as you which is a shame because it seems much easier to use than the other Amstrad Core :/
EDIT: I tried a different Game and the Keyboard worked correctly? So depends on the Game I guess?
Still not right though.

How big is your SD Card? Make sure its formatted to FAT32.
How is your WiiU hacked? Haxchi/CBHC?

I have now got Caprice to load once out of about 20 tries and I followed what you said. Done everything the hit run and then got a message saying press play then press any key. How do I press play lol?

Also a whole load more cores have just been added to the list :)

You typed out the command manually? :P My USB Keyboard works with the Core but not all key presses are
recognised (maybe my janky Keyboard.) :P

Yes I typed them out manually because I am a lazy cow and couldn't be arsed walking about 30 steps to get my USB keyboard out of my office :rofl2:

Tried 16 and 32 GB - card is definitely okay (as far as I can tell) as that`s what I run the homebrew off, and been using it to install a copy of WII u backups today.

I`m using loadline / then homebrew launcher 1.2 by Dimok (5.5 firmware)

I also thought using a forwarder might be an option so I could run it from home screen, but that also doesn`t show up to run.

Again, appreciate your efforts to help!

Ohhh wait a min, your using Homebrew Launcher 1.2? there are newer versions than that..
Try this version https://github.com/GaryOderNichts/homebrew_launcher/releases/tag/v2.1_fix this is v2.1 and has a mod that allows you to use the WiiU Gamepad's D-pad to navigate ;)

EDIT: I just re-read your post, your loading the exploit through the web.. I use CBHC.. I'm cant remember if there are any extra steps needed to run Retroarch you may need to run mocha??
Sorry I assumed you were on Haxchi/CBHC.
Someone with a similar setup to you will have to advise.
Try reading through this. (if you haven't already) https://gbatemp.net/threads/guide-community-noob-guide-to-wii-u-hacking.451297/

Thanks - it was several years ago I did it (as you can tell) - and figured it wasn`t worth re-doing since as it works, vs any risk of bricking it - however minor.

I assume that link just installs through WUP launcher like a rom and updates/fixes what`s already there? Or do I need to delete or amend anything already there? Thanks!

The only brick risk as far as I know is when you mess with CBHC
I think I deleted the old Homebrew Launcher before installing the new one but it may just overwrite.

EDIT: but really if it worked before it should work now?

Hi - just wanted to confirm that you`ve solved this for me - or at least got me on the right track to do it - so thank you.

For anyone who has similar issues, my homebrew launcher was out of date, and therefore could only load elf files and not recognise the type I needed for retroarch. However, I couldn`t install the homebrew launcher as my hack was also out of date - so I`ve got back and updated the exploit, which then let me install the newer homebrew launcher, which then recognises Retroarch.

Probably not quite technically correct in what I`m saying there, but that`s my understanding.

Thanks again!

Paul
