Forgive me if this has been resolved. I couldn't find an answer anywhere. This switch had a bad p13usb & one of the chokes below it was open. Replacing those got the unit up& running. Testing it with botw I made it about 15 min before it overheats on the dock. As soon as I remove it from the dock the fan kicks right on. Place it back in the dock& the fan shuts back off...
I replaced the pu chip but that did nothing. I don't see any obvious shorts. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Having similar problem, my fan simply wont turn on at all. replaced it today, still wont turn on. everything else seems to work fine.

not really applicable if you haven't hacked your switch. good luck and best of wishes to you!

My fan works perfectly as long as it's not plugged into the Nintendo charger or on the dock. This is a patched switch so there is no accessing those settings. Does yours have the diode on the fan circuit?

By default, I would've thought of the M92T36 that can't handle the 15V correctly (sorry I'm a bit approximate)
Does the fan turn on when plugged in on a 5V charger ?

Fan does turn on with 5v charger. M92 has been replaced with no change

Maybe a dead coil responsible for the transformation from 15v to 5v ?
To you have a diode left from the fan connector ? I just fixed a switch that didn't charge it's joycon thanks to changing that but it wasnt situational like yours...
