Hacking Is there a mod-chip for the Xbox 360 S (model 1439) console?

Hi all,

Several years ago I picked up an Xbox 360 S console (model 1439) super cheap on a sale. It's the version with the 4gb hard drive.

I don't know much about Xbox 360 hacking/jailbreaking but I remember looking into it a bit a few years ago. I remember that this particular Xbox was difficult to hack in comparison to other models. So I kind of dismissed it and moved on. The Xbox has been sitting in my cupboard now for years and has never really been used.

In this time I've become a little more confident in my soldering abilities and was wondering if there are any mod-chips available for this particular model that I could purchase and install. I briefly searched around prior to making this post but there is SO MUCH information and different models, it all got a bit too overwhelming.

I was wondering if someone who knows more about Xbox's then me could please point me in the right direction. I'd appreciate any information possible. Links to the correct mod-chip, tools, guides, YouTube tutorials etc.

I have a roadmap in the 360 hacking section that can help you identify your console in better detail.

Basically what you want is a Ace V3 chip.

I took a look at your roadmap and its very well put together. So thankyou for recommending it.

However I'm still a bit confused as there is a LOT of information.

I looked at the back of my Xbox 360 console and I can clearly see that the power is 12V - 9,86A and the date of production is after 2011. So I assume this means it's a Corona model. I haven't taken apart the Xbox yet to look at the motherboard but I know for a fact it doesn't have a hard drive inside and I also know the storage size is 4GB.

With that information, are there any guides I can look at that are specifically targeted at me? I've tried searching "Xbox 360 corona Ace V3 mod chip" but I instantly just get confused with all the different terms that get thrown around.

It doesn't seem as straight forward as modding a PS2. I recently modded my PS2 slim and it was as simple as purchasing the Modbo 5.0 chip, determining what motherboard I had and then simply soldering to all the various different points (using a guide).

I'd say either V1 or V2, I think V2 is the one with the 4 GB NAND, not 100% sure..

I'd go for the Ace v3, solid chips.
You do need a NAND dumper, I'd recommend a JR Programmer or if you can find it, a NAND-X.
Chip programmer cable might come in handy.

I've just watched this video from start to finish and I think I'm pretty confident doing it. -

I'm going to verify my motherboard, order the parts and give it a shot.. Cross your fingers for me hahaha... Also thank you for the information and help!

Weekendmodder helped me with his videos, managed to RGH my Corona Slim couple of days ago but I used another SD Tool (Maximus) than him. Be sure to watch out for the resistors R2C6-R2C7-R2C10 to indicate if you need a Postfix, he goes through that in his videos.

Overall it wasn't too hard as long as you're careful. I've only soldered 3-4 times beforehand but I kept my iron around 350 degrees celsius, used flux and didn't keep the iron on the board for more than a couple of seconds. Well besides the GND point, that one was a slow solder.

Disregard the JR programmer, you need a SD R/W kit to dump the NAND yep.

Good luck mate, it's not terribly difficult if you take it slow and double check before doing something.

Jr programmers only work with spi based boards, typically anything newer than a Trinity, will need the sd kit, I do believe 16mb Corona exists as well however
