I just tried it on my old laptop that is about 12 years old and its working fine on that as well. The old laptop has windows 8.1 on it so you. could try that if you dont want windows 10.
Ughh I'm looking into creating a bootable windows10/8 USB key. I really don't want to mess with this laptop as its borrowed and I know for a fact the owner also hates Windows 10 probably 8.

I mean I looked into creating another partition but it told me I couldn' . Because there wasn't enough space (which there was. There was 200 gig) then I googled that and there was a convoluted explanation about there not being any slots left for mbr

I just wish there was a way to transfer games directly to the hard drive. I can get whatever games I want. But the hard drive isn't recognised by Windows

Did you have Java 8 Update 241 (64-Bit) (or maybe higher/newer) installed on your Windows 10 x64 PC/Laptop ? :)

FYI:

Dont get confused with the various formats.

Loadiine: Code/Content/Meta folders, files are stored on sd card and played with Loadiine homebrew app.

WUD: These are 1:1 dump of the retail disc, mostly released by scene release groups or from personal copies, since these are true 1:1 dumps, size are always 24gb or so. These cant be used on WiiU, only with CEMU emulator on the PC. You can extract the WUD file with various tools to obtain installable WUP format.

WUP: These are installable files used with WUP Installer GX or WUPINSTALLER Y Mod by placing the files on your sd card for install, files contains .app, .h3, title.cert, title.tik and title.tmd. With this format, it allows you to install games to ext usb hard drive.

Most people go with WUP format to install games to their ext usb hard drives, apps like USB Helper, uTikDownloadHelper, etc... All do similar jobs, they all download WUP installable files directly from Nintendo servers, ready to be installed.

You can convert them using NUSpacker, but I would recommend searching a bit for the appropriate format instead. Loadiine ready files tend to have missing informations and could be dangerous to install.

The post above pretty much said it all :)

Hi guys I wonder if anyone would be so kind to help I’m having trouble getting a download from
USB helper it throw the game into the download manager and it says it’s ready to download, then after a second it pops up saying it’s complete although due to the size it obviously hasn’t downloaded..

it also says something like “checking integrity of your files please wait”

Any reply would be much appreciated thank you

Exactly the same thing happened to me and it drove me nuts. All I didn't was reinstall again and it worked perfectly. Make sure you got the correct titles key website too.

honestly this is driving me nuts.. ive tried all different versions on the Launcher 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2
I actually got it work with and older version and updates the host file and it was al good then when i went to use it as few days later that setup didnt work as was gettin stuck on the cache start up part so got fed up and deleted it and now i cant get any option to work..

Ive managed to get into it with 1.2 release added the titlekey now im back to the download just NOT working,
just seems like a very tempromental bit of software and works when it works..

can i ask what your setup is please ie what version of launcher and usb helper you have, if i copy how you do it maybe i can get it to work?

Just to add I’ve added the launcher.exe to exceptions in firewall and security

I’ve tried both methods of having the launcher and helper in the same folder as separate downloads

I’ve added the up addresses 104 etc to the hosts file and I’ve tried all 3 live working tik files from google

the long link worked prior to when it worked
My next step is trying it all again on another laptop and hoping that will work, don’t know weather to try the single launcher way using the most upto date version or downloading the two separate files and having all of it in the same
Folder

And sorry one more thing to add, when trying to locate them 3 files before reinstalling I can’t seem to find them in that app data folder, there never there.. I end up uninstalling from add/remove programmes

sorry for the long post I hope someone can help thanks

thanks alot

@BurningDesire You seem to know a lot about the ticket format and I'm searching for someone knowing the brazillian method. For that I have a question: Is there any way to (programatically) see if a ticket is a raw dump, damaged or brazillian (without trying to install it via MCP. Sadly it looks to me like MCP_InstallGetInfo() is checking the tmd file only) ?

I know this is off-topic, sorry for that. If you want PM me your reply to bring the thread back to topic. :)

1. it's safe to install them to the nand, but it's usually recommended just to have that for haxchi/cbhc.

2. afaik, you don't have to load the game once. you can install both game and dlc together. they use separate tickets and they're in separate folders (game in 00050000 and dlc in 0005000c).

3. I think you can install updates, at least for retail games, from the eshop. I don't know about digital games though. digital games are the reason for cfw. retail games work without it.

nice, thanx for the tips, man :)
i thoght installing to nand wasn't safe for brick issues, but it is fine ;)

the updates work fine as the system grabs them on game launch,
so no need to get them via usb helper or NUSpili for example :)

I'm trying to set up a hdd on my Wii U in order to transfer my game discs to that hdd. I'm confused because most guides say I need a hdd formatted as Fat32 to be able to do so. But as far as I understand it, as soon as I connect the hdd to the Wii U, it formats the drive using it's own file system. So what's the point here to have a Fat32 hdd when it's overwritten anyway? And how can I transfer directly to the that usb hdd then?

As you correctly said, the Wii U formats the HDD in a special Format. You do not need to format it with FAT32.

You can use the Tool "disc2app"

https://github.com/koolkdev/disc2app

to copy your Game Disc Content to the SD Card (please be sure you have enough Space for it)
and then the WUP Installer

https://sourceforge.net/projects/wup-installer-gx2/

to install them to your HDD.

Good Luck
Thank you.:)

So I need to have a SD card with enough free space and there is no way to directly copy to usb hdd?

That means it's a two step progress, first copy to SD, then convert/install to hdd, right?

Thanks for your help!
