The House of the Dead: Remake is an upcoming remake of Sega's 1996 horror-themed rail shooting game The House of the Dead. It is being developed by MegaPixel Studio, financed by TA Publishing, and published and co-produced by Forever Entertainment. Sega will remain the IP owner.[1]

An official trailer was released on April 14th, 2021, with the Nintendo Switch confirmed as a platform.[2] The game is slated to be released later this year.[3]

Forever Entertainment has a contract to release the remake on Google Stadia,[4] and the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Epic Game Store, and Steam were listed as platforms in Forever Entertainment's 2019 financial report.[5] The company has yet to confirm this information.

Showing my age here, but I used to play the original in arcades.

I'm wondering how they will do the gun thing.

Joycons are basically an improved Wiimote, so infrared camera can be used in the same way, but Switch lacks the sensor bar, of course. Gyroscopes, on the other hand, pretty much suck for an on rails shooter, since you have to reset the point of reference constantly (I finished Blue Estate years ago using the Dual Shock 4 gyroscopes and it was a pita).

On PC, we are getting new arcade games still like Time Crisis 5 and many others and there are several lightgun options that still work on Windows 10. There was also another House of the Dead that came to arcades in 2018 called Scarlet Dawn that isn't playable on PC yet but I'm hoping eventually someone will crack it.

Is Time Crisis 5 available on Steam or some other store? Also, what are these new light gun options you speak of? :)

No it's like MAME arcade roms but more modern arcades, it's not available for purchase anywhere. There's Aimtrak and Sindel both good guns. Don't expect them to be cheap though. Look up Teknoparrot emulator there's a lot of arcade roms that came out in the last 10 years for it. Time Crisis 5 is actually not in Teknoparrot it runs seperately.

I actually still have a EMS Top Gun 3 which is the only wireless light gun and was meant to not work past Vista but I have it working on Windows 10 by disabling driver signature reinforcement. You really can't even find it anymore though.
