Hi Everyone,
I am a web developer, and in the last few months I have really gotten into homebrew stuff for 3DS. In my quest for playing custom Homebrew games and doing other cool stuff with my 3DS, I found that there was no generally centralized distribution system for HB Apps/Games. I found that GBATemp and GitHub mainly hosted all of this stuff, but that these platforms were used for a lot of other stuff as well.

My idea was to create an online website or desktop app (probably some sort of Electron configuration) that would be a dedicated app store for distribution of HB tools/games for systems of all kind (Wii, 3DS, Wii U, DS, etc). The website would have a nice front-end UI that could let you search, sort and find certain apps easily, and a fast CDN powering the site that could automatically pull from selected GitHub repositories. Upon downloading an app, the user could either get the CIA/3dsx files or get a QR code that they could scan through FBI on their 3DS.

In the future this system could become similar Homebr3w or the Wii U app store in that it could have dedicated clients for the systems in question to download apps and install them easily.

After doing some digging I couldn't really find any similar, cross-platform solutions, so remind me if something like this already exists.

Any feedback? Suggestions? Doubts? Name Suggestions? I would love to hear them.

... I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to create, as the Post starts out with 3DS Homebrew then goes into a Multi-platform goal, but as far as the former is concerned, Universal Updater is currently the unified way, inside Homebrew, to search and update Applications, both by the default and custom UniStores.

As a New 3DS XL USA user, unless the files are large, both in size and quantity, I prefer to bypass the middleman of another device to search and install Homebrews straight from the Handheld; the only Homebrew exception I have is for TwiLight Menu ++ as it is quite large in file quantity so extracting on a Laptop and inserting my MicroSD is the fastest method.

Wow! Thanks for the feedback! I just found out about universal updater but as said this would be a multi-platform tool for distributing homebrew software.

There is also the topic of monetisation. This would be a very far-down-the-line thing to do, but if all law permits (and I’m 99% sure it doesn’t) implementing a monetisation system so HB developers could actually make some money would be an interesting idea.

If it's like VitaDB, then that would be awesome.
Basically this with a more modern design and more platforms and styling. My idea would have unique “system” pages with helpful links to guides, places to buy (especially if the systems are older) and easy methods of finding apps for the system. Each app would also have their own page similar to VitaDB.
