Hakama is still hard at work on the latest Rune Factory entry, with publisher Marvelous Interactive offering another look at the game, and giving fans a glimpse at some of the new townspeople you'll run into, along with information on how the combat will be like. These screenshots show each of the weapons, which include one-handed swords, two-handed swords, dual blades, axes, hammers, fists, spears, and magic staves, as well as elemental Rune Abilities. The Japanese press release--translated courtesy of Gematsu--explains that like in previous entries, you'll level up each weapon stat through usage, and that you'll be able to use a Seed Circle, which lets you capture enemies to turn them into allies for a short time. Various townspeople can be recruited to take into battle, too, and they can be levelled up, too.

■ Townspeople

Randolph (voiced by Pile Volcano Ota)

An old man and honest baker. Always smiling and kind in his response. He loves his wife Yuki. He wants to make a new type of bread.

Yuki (voiced by Naoko Watanabe)

An old woman who runs a bakery with her husband. She has an innocent personality, without any preconceived notions or fears of others, and takes things as they come.

Heinz (voiced by Takumo Miyazono)

A man with an ever-so-innocent look an his face. He runs a shop, but wants to entrust it to someone else so he can do something fun. He never looks people in the eyes when talking to them.

Doug (voiced by Hirofumi Nojima)

A Dwarven blacksmith who always treats customers with sincerity. He still seems unable to find equal footing with the town ladies, who know him from his young, inexperienced days.

Palmo Crasi Viviage (voiced by Takahiro Fujimoto)

Not your average carpenter—he is a famous architect whose voice can be heard from the royal palace to the regions beyond the sea. He constructed most of the buildings in Rigberth.

Currently, Rune Factory 5 is planned for release as a Nintendo Switch exclusive in Japan on May 20th. A localization has been confirmed, but the western release lacks any details outside of sometime in 2021.

Well... Most of the players of these types of games shifted to portables, which is why not many are released in consoles these days.
The reason it's being released exclusively for the switch well, it's obvious since the switch is pretty much a portable system.
No. The franchise is actually potable-based. It's not that it moved to portable devices, since it has always been a DS/3DS franchise.
Only two titles were released on home consoles, and both were non-main entries.

Thanks for the reminder Marvelous. I definitely did not forget. I should probably work on my kanji so I can understand more of the game when it comes out.

This year is seeing a lot of Farm Story adjacent content coming out and I'm loving it.

Also, I'm just now finding out that De Saint Coquille has always been called Viviage in Japanese. Weird change. I wonder if they'll retcon the localization like they did with 'retornen' back to the apparently original 'tamitaya'.

Mean, I don't mind an amnesiac protagonist, lol, just, at least in the first game I checked, I didn't like at all how ham-fisted it was the way you got the farm and all.
Random gal meeting a stranger, being immediately all friendly and all, giving you a farm for like no reason at all almost, just... It killed any kind of immersion for me for that game, lol.

I finished Rune Factory Frontier (Wii) recently... almost entirely as a fisherman (and fishing is quite boring).
I assume the other Rune Factory games are not plagued by the same Runey system.

only frontier has the runey system, in fact i see a lot of people who use cheats to enjoy that game since thats the biggest flaw

is clear you did not
I did, and just because I don't subscribe to your wacky views, it doesn't mean otherwise... Though I saw your behaviour on a political thread, so I think I've figured it out. It's because LGBT people can go for their preferred gender, right?
That is not pandering, it's not pandering to provide these options for straight people so if you think that's somehow pandering, you are unfortunately not a nice person.

Not sure what your own about and your conspiracy theories but it seems I was right and the Latest Story of season is failing due to the pandering and been a stardew wannabe

You may be ok with generic soulless characters that pander to you that have no likes or dislikes but I am not

Series Strongpoint has always been the characters.

Hoping they don't make that mistake with this one

As part of the super straight community I do not mind playing as either a man or a woman - as long as I can marry a woman. Shouldn´t transgender people be interested in at least either female or male characters? (except asexual people who would not care anyway)

As part of the super straight community myself, that's a can of worms you shouldn't open considering the mental gymnastics of all this "gender" stuff those people believe in lol

anything will be better than My Time at Portia god what a train wreck disappointment that was.
What didn't you like about it? It's janky and the Facebook/mobile game waiting mechanic is pretty dumb, but otherwise I like the game, especially in comparison to the Wii Rune Factory games and any Harvest Moon game since around the DS era.
