It's been more than 6 years now that I set up my vWii. ^_^ I know that I didn't bother with "Data Transfer", EmuNAND or anything weird. I simply installed my VC and WiiWare WADs to my vWii using a compatible WAD manager. I didn't have a very high risk, though, since I had installed and confirmed those WADs on my regular Wii before. But if you got them from a "reputable" source (and not some random Youtube video link or stuff like that) they should be okay.
I got them from reliable sources and all tested on my Wii real NAND, where can I get a relabeled Wad Manager for the Wii U? I got one called “yet another wad manager” which I used to install usb loader forwarder, does that work?

yes, that works with vwii. I'd suggest just making an emunand and using usb loader gx inject the wads into it. easiest, no risk too.

I got that already working but I can’t get N64/NeoGeo/certain Wii games working via cios and neek isn’t working on wii u (works on wii though) I wanna try to at least install these titles on real vwii nand is it risky? Keeping in mind they’re tested on my wii real nand.

shouldn't be. afaik, the only risky ones are forwarders and especially ios.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

btw, how did you make your emunand where neek isn't working? I made it with usb loader gx, and I've never had a problem with it. I even injected my syscon into it as per @Cyan 's instructions to add in current wii u pro controller pairings, and it worked. before, the wii u pro controller, my new one, would no longer be synced after exiting neek. now, it works 100%.

Usb loader gx but like I said I did it on Wii then used it on Wii U as is, works as partial nand emulation just fine but as neek black screen ‍♂️

I'm also using version 1271 of 3.0. it loads the usb hdd faster than 1272, which is why I use it. I haven't tried any of those experimental builds.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

did you make the emunand on the virtual wii itself or are you still using one you made on the wii? I made it on the virtual wii.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

some things like the syscon are not affected by regular emunand, only neek.

Like I said I created it on the Wii back in 2014/15 and I’m just using the same exact hard drive on vWii now without changing anything so it’s the same exact EmuNAND I created on Wii.

Edit: actually now that you mention it it could be the syscon I didn’t copy it over from WiiU so technically I’m still using the one I got from Wii.

I don't think you can use that.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

like has been said, the syscon is part of neek, so you wouldn't be able to play the games anyway, because it would be using the controllers attached to your wii, not the vwii. that's why I brought it up.

I’ll test it later and get back to you, I’m done for the day, thanks for the help, I guess installing the games on vWii nand is safe, maybe I’ll look into that I just need to get a new SD because mine is too small and the adapter is dying.

getting neek to run is probably the most complicated thing on the vwii. seems like everyone has issues with it except for me. same with yamt on the vita. everyone has issues, but I don't.

Speaking on the vita I tried the other day to use the exploit to inject PSP games and I got everything working until if I try to run the game it tries to start then sends me back to the menu, ofw latest update.

I spent all day installing my Wii/VC collection on the vWii NAND using a compatible wad mannager, yes it works on real vWii NAND, except for two issues...

-For some reason Starfox 64 won't install it gives me "error ret = -1022" message if I try to install it.

-This one's important, so if you install a game off a different region of that of your console (for example a Japanese game) it will install fine but if you try to run it it'll give you a message "you can't run this game" however if you run it from real NAND using USB-Loader GX it runs fine, so... thanks Nintendo, lol.

I hope to get Starfox 64 working, not sure what the issue is, as of right now setting up NEEK is low priority for me, especially when most games run fine from EmuNAND as cIOS plus you know, they're installed on my vWii as well so there's that.

Apologies for double post but I have some important news...

First the good news, I got NEEK to run on vWii, however if I exit a game it doesn’t shut off the console or reboot, all I can do is shut off the console itself.

The bad news is, and this is something I discovered quite late, I wish there were more information about this stuff online but I guess I’m being the genuine pig, installing a game that is “region free” or of any region other than your system default then copying it over to the SD Menu will cause the game not be able to run... not ever, unless perhaps if you can delete the ticket files associated with said game (WiiXplorer?) you also cannot copy the game over to the sysnand either, the only way that might work is if you install the game on sysnand using a compatible wad manager.

I really wish I knew about this earlier I would’ve changed all my games region to US then I wouldn’t be in this situation.

how did you get neek to run? does it crash if you exit the game? that happens to another member as well. not sure why.

I had to create it again but I believe the issue was with the system files, I remember I had this issue first time on Wii as well, for some reason copying the system files with USB Loader doesn’t work for me I had to copy them manually using WiiXplorer.

Yes it crashes on black screen if I exit a game, not sure how to fix that, but for now I’ll probably use EmuNAND as cIOS except for N46 and NeoGeo games, and a couple of Wiiware titles that require it.

Alternatively I can use real vWii NAND but half of the games I installed don’t run if launched off the SD menu nor can I copy them over so if for whatever reason I decided to run one of these titles on Real vNAND (like for using cheats) right now all I can do is reinstall it with Wad Manager and run it strait off the vNAND.
