You know I was just saying to myself the other day "You know what smash needs? More anime sword fighters"
a-hem
Technically speaking, they are not a swordfighter.
They are a sword; fighter.
They are a sword, and they themselves fight.

...Kinda? I mean, they're not like Fi, the annoying robotic bitch from Skyward Sword who constantly spews unnecessary percentages and beeps every five minutes for worthless junk text boxes (Navi was so much better than her).
Fi is primarily a sword, but can project herself as a weird-looking spirit thing. Pyra and Mythra...aren't swords; they can summon their shared sword, and instantly create a new one if it were to break (Chapter 1, and Chapter 7), but they don't come from their sword. It's the other way around, like all Blades.

They aren't a sword, but the sword is them, kinda?

According to the dictionary, a sword fighter is someone who uses a sword to fight. Pyra fights. Pyra is carrying a sword. Pyra uses the sword as a weapon. Pyra fights with the sword. A-hem technically pyra is a sword fighter.

if I cut off my arm and swing it around as a weapon, I'm not an armfighter, I'm extremely messed up

If you cut off your arm and swing it around, you are an arm fighter.

There is no clause in the definition of swordfighter that says it only applies if the sword you use isn't yourself. It doesn't say "a weapon that is in no way linked to you". It says a fighter (pyra) who uses a sword (which she does). If you don't know how definitions work then just say it.

In fact, in the english language, she qualifies in more ways than one. If "sword" is an adjective instead of a noun, the phrase sword fighter describes both the person (a sword) and the occupation (a fighter).

Oh like Fire Emblem
Man, the salt over Byleth was so funny. I wouldn't mind a few other FE characters with more variety, like Hector with Axes.

I'm still playing through XC2 and hyped for pyra/mythra, not sure if I should just buy them or get the whole package.
