As for me, the "road I choosed", being user of both Atmosphere and Sxos since the very beginning, and didn't want to loose xci mounting from usb, (and didn't want to have multiple sd cards), I set up my sd card with EmuMMC hidden partion based for Atmosphere, and SD files based for SXOS. So being able to play latest games/udpates under Atmosphere (currently 11.0.1 , and will update it) and my old games mounted on the lastest firmware supported by Sxos (currently 11.0). Same Emutendo folder for both CFW. Shrinked EmuMMc for sxos, so only for system and saves, same for EmuMMc Atmosphere.
FastCfw overlay to switch easily .
My sysnand is still “virgin “.., 4.0.1..,
But Girls/Guys, it's up to you, there is not "best method" , all depends on what you want to "achieve".

We talk about SX OS again when they delivered an update which support 11.0.1
And if you needlessly convert your emunand, they'll be talking about their emunand issues when they update. I'm not a making statement on IF they'll update - in fact, I think it's probably unlikely if current product availability is any indication. I'm only stating that there's no reason to make unnecessary changes to emunand on the off chance that they do - and come 12.0, we should have a good idea if they will.

You can boot Emunand on 11.0 with SX OS when your Sysnand is on 11.0.1.
You can boot (and use) emunand 11.0.0. if your sysnand is on 11.0.1

Ah, okay. I would have figured that but I was getting an error when booting into sxos EmuNAND. I guess maybe my little bro just did something to affect the SD card, maybe I can just replace the SXOS files/etc.

Thanks a lot for the quick and clear responses, very helpful :yayswitch:

SXOS still works great with any old backups I have. For anything newer I'll just use another cheap sd card with the new firmware and atmosphere installed.

I highly expect new versions of SXOS to make their way out though this year.

I'm on SXOS 3.0.5 with 10.2.0 and want to setup atmosphere like this? I used atmosphere a few years ago and just launched it from within SXOS. How did you setup your second SD card like that with the newer firmware only on the SD card and atmosphere at boot? Sorry I know its a noob question. I kept it pretty simple using only SXOS until now. Your way of setting it up is how id like to do it, and most of what ive read just wants to fully swap over to atmosphere and I dont want to do that yet.

Is this how you did it? Emunand Switcher 2.1 Multitool for SXOS and Atmosphere

Sorry cant like directly..

I use SX OS, but I still set up Atmosphere to have more options. I have it set up with autoRCM, but I can hold down the volume up button to change my payload to go into Atmosphere.

I had a question, let's say a friend gives me a code for a game to redeem. How can I get the game from the eShop safely? I have SX OS, Atmosphere, and I have emuMMC set up, and I can boot into Sysnand as well but I don't think I'm supposed to update Sysnand.

So in the end I've finally switched to Atmosphere, took a bit to read all the tutorials and stuff, also because we SX owners had nothing to worry about but change a dat file and play.

Only thing I miss atm about SX is the ability to switch from sysnand>>>>emunand without sending the payload everytime.
Also I hope the online is safe as SX that served me well for years. I'll let you guys know here if something happens.

You can easily switch between sysMMC and emuMMC without resending payloads. Change the default reboot to payload bin to Hekate, and then you can boot into Hekate to switch just by rebooting the system or using the reboot to payload homebrew nro.

Downgrading games with new updates to work on 11.0 still works for me. It might not be a future proof method, but it still
gives the sxos more life into new content. Its an extra step in building super xci's but still worth it. I think some ppl I debated with in the past will argue its conviency, but as an sxos owner I'm just trying to make full use of it.

It will be a very long time before games require something newer than 11.0.0, but it will eventually be the case that updating past 11.0.0 will be required to play new games. It is recommended that SX OS users start getting ready to migrate to Atmosphere.

So if I understand this correctly.

1. Atmosphere needs emuland to really work correct? from what I understand emuland is needed for playing online although it still carry's risk right? Ive never bothered to setup emuland cuz my system has always been offline since system 4.1.0. I found a guide to do it at codedonut. I have updated via choi to not burn any fuses, so I could go back to 4.1.0.

2. If I want atmophere and version beyond 11.0.1 I need emuland setup on my SD card or on the system partition although the ladder is not recommended if you want to go online cuz nintendo scans the sysnand but not the sd card necessarily.

3. Why does having a lower version of sysnand good for going online? According to the guide on codedonut going online with the lower version is good for avoiding nintendo telemetry although I wonder what if any games would be playable, so I think this info maybe outdated.

Anyway whatever insight you guys can provide would be great, i want to make sure I do this right and research this before I go forward. THANKS

I never got Bloodstained Ritual of the Night to work on SXOS, even when installing via Tinfoil.

It works fine. You fucked up.

You'll eventually have to update to something higher than 10.0.2 to play newer games, and since you'll also eventually have to update to something higher than 11.0.0 to play newer games, Atmosphere will eventually be required.

That you know of. Predictions. I will never be required to drop SXOS. You can have both. Since you're predicting the future, what's the power ball numbers?

No offense, but you're just an underinformed troll. You know that TX took like 98% of their code from Atmosphere, right?
Switching over is really, really easy. Takes absolutely no effort to do it when you're not on Emunand - just copy the files and load a different payload - and very little effort if you're on Emunand - gotta read up ten minutes on how to use your SX emunand with Atmosphere. That's it. Enjoy contemporary updates. And if XCI is your main argument, god forbid, just spend those 40 bucks on a 400gb microSD and never worry about having not enough space again. No one can tell me that they need like 50 games installed at once, or 300 games able to boot as XCI asap, at all times. That's just a petty hoarding mentality.
Of course you can just continue using SX OS that didn't get an update for two months and -not that unlikely- never will again, but hey, be my guest. It'll serve you fine for another 6 months or 12, but at some point games will require a higher firmware than 11.0.
Oh, and on a sidenote: before anyone accuses me of being an Atmosphere-loving SX hater again - I've had SX OS since it was released and I've been a lazy, SX OS loving fanboy ever since, but even I can acknowledge when it's time to switch. Probably one of the reasons why I wrote a tutorial to merge from SX to Atmos like two years ago.

:switch:

Troll calling someone a troll. If i don't need 300 games it's my decision. I definately don't need 300 posts trolling to make people think its your decision. You can have BOTH.

So daybreak is the way to go to update now? Works on SX too?
Atm I miss only online play, anything else works perfect on SX. Going to wait some more, really don't want to learn a new cfw with emunand and stuff, also installing all my stuff from scratch.

Game works fine on SX I finished it no problem.

It's easy to install atmosphere. You can run both. Don't listen to the trolls. SXOS will allways be useful until Atmo has a way to run games directly off of an external USB device.

You need a clean NAND with no piracy ever to go online. That's it. You can go online in SysNAND or EmuNAND as long as no piracy or save hacks have been used. Once you go there it's dangerous. I go online in a clean EmuNAND made.from a backup i made before hacking my system. You will have to update through official Nintendo servers at that point. As long as you never go online with hacked saves, piracy or other EULA breakers you'll be fine.

SXOS is dead, Team Xecuter is probably dead. Live with it

You might be right. Might not be. They skipped firmwares before and have released an update since the arrests. If they don't.. So what? It's still the best and only solution to play every single current game from USB and that's a lot. It can still be run side by side with atmo and there is still no need to switch. You can have both! TRUTH. Get over yourself. You don't know anything more than the rest of us. Unless you're psychic. I dont think so. Just a troll.

i will probably never understand why there are still people who cling to outdated technology

Nice edited quote. It's not outdated. Still 100% functional and the only way to play games off an external USB . There is no other option. What's it to you? You just try to belong. Lame. Go troll elsewhere. You don't belong here. CAN YOU HOTSWAP USB DEVICES AND LOAD GAMES DIRECTLY OFF OF THEM? SO EASY A. 8 YEAR OLD DOES IT? CAN YOU USE A 1TB SSD WITH AN OTG CABLE ON IT IN HANDHELD? A 5TB HDD IN DOCKED? I can.

Guys, everytime TX skips an update you Software Justice Weenie trolls start with this bullshit. Let the future unfold and let us decide what to do with our own systems. You guys are unjustified and unwanted. Go to one of your circle jerk atmo threads. Stop your cancel culture bullshit. It's not noble. It's kinda, Adolf of you. Go away. We don't care and don't respect you because you absolutely don't care or respect what we want. You're not saving anyone. Just harassing us. Lame.

1 thing to keep in mind is the random bug with sxos. From what im told, it happens at random? This is a quote.
"Yeah, for whatever reason it writes a pointer to ODM6 and ODM7 fuses sometimes, which effectively results in either 42 or 63 fuses being blown (depending on how N checks fuses). It seems to mostly be happening on Erista devices with an SX Core, so I imagine most people that have it don't know about it."

Do whatever you want with this info.

I took the Hekate bin file and renamed reboot_payload.bin and put it in the Atmo folder but still doesn't work.

What I want to do is I press the power button from sysnand, I choose reboot and I want it to go to hekate instead of rcm mode so I don't have to use my phone everytime to send the payload. A dude here told me I can't do it from sysnand but only from emunand.
