So my modded 5.5.3 Wii U gives me an error code when attempting to update; I've heard that the update failing is likely a result of modding vWii (which I have). Has anyone gotten a similar error code / know how to successfully update?

Did you have "unblocked" your Internet Settings first please ? :)

I am also experiencing the same problem, on a Pal console.
My internet settings are unblocked,
Vwii is modded and so is wiiu with ds game mod.

I have tried the update with both usb hdd unplugged, the sd card removed, and the console disconnected from the power, but the error still occurs.

Do you think I should delete and recreate the update folder via ftp?

Have you all tried to unplug your USB Devices first before the Update ?

Please also check your Wii U´s NAND,maybe it has not enough Space.
The Update has to be downloaded first and after that the Installation starts.

Thank you.:)

Hello

By checking the nand, do you mean check there isn't any programs clogging up the update folder?

My wiiu system memory says 25gb free

Problem Solved, What I did was;

1. Unplug all USB devices.
2. Boot wii u
3. Run MOCHA CFW
4. Run FTPiiU_Everywhere
5. Follow guide "[Tutorial] Prevent updates by removing the system's update folder" (on GBATEMP in wii u-tutorials posted by Mattkimura), to remove the folder,
6. Reboot follow steps 2-5 to replace the folder.
7. Reboot and the update went through without any problems. :-)

Hi, I'm having an issue where I can't update, but I don't have a direct error code but a crash.
Wii U getting stuck when updating to 5.5.3? : wiiu (reddit.com)

That reddit post explains the problem, another guy had the same problem with the 5.5.3 update, basically the problem is that when it ends downloading the update, in the install process the Wii U crashes (with the Wii U logo in a corner) and I have to force shut-down, will try what is said in this post though to see if it fixes it.

EDIT: It's not working :(

I had the same problem today, I did the tutorial and had the same error. Some time ago I deleted the folder manually with FTP so I checked into the folders of the console and noticed that the "update" folder was with capital letter "Update" so I deleted the folfer and created a new one without capital letter and problem solved.

That's what I was missing to get it updated. I forgot I deleted that update folder years ago.

No meu caso a pasta existe. E infelizmente continuava dando erro. A solução foi excluir e criar novamente a pasta "update". Só depois funcionou a atualização
