emuiibo - MitM'ing NFP services for Amiibo emulation

Hi everyone!

I noticed there was a project called switch-nfp-mitm, which had lots of forks, but none of them properly working (people reported it barely worked, and with some games), thus I decided to try to fix it, or to improve it as much as I could. Well, the results were that good, that I've just managed to get it working perfectly, even with a nice system of combos for Amiibo swapping, in just 2 days.

So, well, here's the result:

emuiibo

emuiibo is a virtual amiibo (amiibo emulation) system for Nintendo Switch!

It consists on a background process (and service), which intercepts Nintendo Switch's internal NFC/NFP services to support virtual amiibo emulation, plus an overlay to easily control it.

Have fun playing around with custom virtual amiibos!

emuiibo is not working for me, idk what to do :c

I'm on atmosphere 0.14.4 fw 10.2.0 and I've downloaded the latest emuiibo and tesla files (emuiibo 0.6.0 and nx-ovlloader v1.0.6) but when I enter Tesla it says ''emuiibo was not accessed'', I don't understand :ccc

Have you enabled it in the services?

Thank you very much boss. It works with any Joycon connected even if they don't have Amiibos functionality(probably cause it emulates it) but it does not work on Pro Controller. Saw there's an issue regarding this on Github, so you by any chance have an ETA for a fix? Thanks again!

It is bc of your miis. change the names of any miis with special characters, this includes "ã,ç" etc. then delete the "miis' folder inside emuiibo and then it should work.

emuiibo v0.6.1 has been released, which fixes a few issues v0.6 had, and adds the option to create all available virtual amiibos directly on emutool

Go check it out! https://github.com/XorTroll/emuiibo/releases/tag/0.6.1

Getting an error with the newest emutool when generating all amiibos with the send to ftp flag on, it says that the path name must be set. Not sure if it's a bug or the option to generate all and send to ftp isn't implemented.
Generating the whole set to a local folder works great though.

Hello, I know this may sound stupid, but is there any way to directly convert amiibo bin files into the file format emuiibo uses? For context I was using an amiibo editor that saves into a bin file. I could use something like an NFC tag, but I wanted to see if there's any way to do it without buying anything new.

Just tried out emuiibo. While generating some amiibos with emutool, i‘ve seen the option to create them without a uuid, so emuiibo send a random id for those.

Because in some cases, it would be nice to have the same amiibos for both requirements, i’ve generated them all twice, once with and once without a uuid.

Instead of this, i think it would be easier to have an option in emuiibo, which allows to toggle, if the uuid, or a random one should be sent ?

So every amiibo has always a uuid, but the users can chose in emuiibo, if this or a random id will be used.

It‘s just an idea. But maybe there are some reasons for the actual solution, which i don’t understand ?

Greets and thanks for the good work.

Thank you for your work on this! Only thing I can really point out as a desired feature would be utilizing the system settings' ability to register miis and nicknames on amiibo, seeing as emuiibo doesn't appear to intercept those menus.

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.

Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though

@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.

Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.
