Hi there everyone,

As per subject, I bricked my New 3DS LL console after trying to remove the CFW. Ran the megascript and then the console gave a black screen upon reboot.

I saw the general attitude towards people in my same condition and I am aware that I did something stupid, and I am willing to fix it. So, can we skip all the shaming and battering and go straight to the solution?

I saw that the only possible solution is to use ntrboot and a flash card, which I fortunately have.

R4 SDHC Lite 2019 in the specific, which is listed among the compatible cards. I downloaded the ntrboot files on the SD, inserted it in the console and tried to boot, but alas to no avail.

So, if I understand well, the only way to unbrick my console would be to boot from the flashcart and ntrboot, but as things stand I am unable to do so, I am surely missing something.

Can you guys give me a hand with that?

Oh no! Not another one… "I wanted to sell!" or "Something didn't work, so I decided to delete everything – including all troubleshooting tools!" or…

You (hopefully) won't find a bad attitude on me. Just pure frustration. *Cries* Why does this keep happening??
*Sigh*
====================

Now to the question. You need any other 2|3DS(i) with working DS mode to flash the ntrboot exploit onto the R4.

Putting the ntrboot files on the console or the flashcart SD will not magically install the exploit. Use any DS system:
Once you flashed ntrboot on your R4, proceed with reinstalling B9S:
https://3ds.hacks.guide/installing-boot9strap-(ntrboot)
============

If you already did this and it still does not work… troubleshooting failing to ntrboot can be hard. Multiple possible causes, same result: Doesn't work. Possibilities:
  • Bad SD/wrong file system (use FAT32, nothing else)
  • Bad SD reader → very bad
  • Missing boot.firm (SafeB9SInstaller) on SD
  • Magnet to weak to reliably trigger standby (please don't use a crazy neodymium super magnet that can pull nails out of the wall). Try on a working console of the same model as yours to find the exact location in order to trigger standby with your magnet.
  • Holding buttons too short or too long. I got best results when releasing (Power) first and then the other buttons shortly after. I can do ntrboot reliably on N3DS(XL) but need some tries on the old models.

Hi and thank you for the reply.

- I don't want to sell my 3DS. I bought it already modded and it was giving a series of issues with region localization. Therefore I wanted to reinstall everything, but things went south.

- I do not have any access to any other DS/3DS/DSL, is that the only way to get ntrboot to work or potentially unbrick my machine?

- I get a fixed blue power light and both screens black. To turn it off I need to keep the power button pressed for a few seconds.

Maybe region changed. In that case uninstall CFW isn't possible (in an easy way). Just for the record: "Delete everything and start from scratch!" is almost never an answer on a console.

There are more than a hundred million DS out there. Can't be that hard to borrow one. The only other way is getting a flashcart with ntrboot preinstalled

Sadly this cool thing with internal switch seems to be out of production and is sold out (It was $20, not $50 when still available; no idea why they have that high price for a sold out item)

That is the expected behavior when vital system components or movable.sed or SecureInfo_* or LocalFriendSeed_B have been modified.

For now, you can try with:
  • Turning on your console, but without any SD card inserted (try to press the SELECT or the START button meanwhile).
  • Turn on your console, but pressing the combo L+R+A+Up. If it works, an update message is prompted to you: please accept and try to update (you need a internet connection for that).
  • Turn on your console, but pressing the combo L+R+B+Down and try to delete the HOME Menu cache configuration
  • Try with the battery trick.

Tried all that, but alas, to no avail. Thank you for the tips though.

I don't know anyone with a DS/3DS, but maybe some local repairer might be able to help with that.

Thank you.
