Thank you, I do appreciate it a lot. It hasn't been all that easy, with a lot of challenges both in and out of the translation project. Here's hoping for many more time to dedicate to this game :)

Thanks for voting me your favorite person of the year... and yes, there should be music lol. Every dungeon has music.

Any news about the translation ?

Hello! I've recently came across this game after forgetting about it for so time! Big fan of Madoka Magica!
Does this project still need any translation help? I've done a few translation works in the past.

Help is surely appreciated. I'll send you a message and we can take it from there.

Hey guys, just a quick update.

As far as the initial translations goes, Mami's Chapter is complete!
All that's left is to revise it in-game. and make sure everything looks good.

In addition, I'll be making more translation fixes to some of the Magical Spells for all the Magical Girls.
There are some weird entries, some that could use a facelift, and some that are not even translated well.
The Magic Shop will also have its Magic Spells properly translated, at least most of it.
I wouldn't be telling you all of this if I wasn't confident that a new patch would be released
soon, so expect something to come out in a few days.
Other than that, thanks for the support, everyone! I'll keep you all updated.

Madoka Magica Portable English Patch 2.1 is available. Yes, we're switching to decimals now.

Link to patch (contains installation instructions too):
https://mega.nz/file/wglm2IRQ#RPd1E-9OejqkU8oGetHefUksXkbPEZ2BhmVJXPi3yQw

What's New in this Patch:
  • Mami's Chapter is fully complete, with all routes and endings accessible (now with no softlocks). Can you find them all?
  • Magic spells have more accurately translated names now, along with more accurate descriptions of them. The Pictorial Book reflects those changes as well.
  • The Magic Shop Spells, Event CGs, and Scenarios for Madoka and Mami's Chapter are translated. You can now purchase them without feeling too puzzled as to what's what.
  • Minor tweaks/changes/fixes/additions/etc. to earlier parts of the game (many thanks to Nouka and CoyoteMao).
  • Fixed a softlock that occurs when losing to a Witch, which made one of the endings inaccessible (again, thanks to Nouka).

Helpful notes related to the game:
  • If you want to get more Emotionality and need help finding all the Q Buttons, there are purchasable items in the Magic Shop that can reveal all the Q Buttons for that particular Chapter. How it work: The Q Button (Kyubey's portrait on the bottom left) will glow when certain dialogue shows up, giving you (as Kyubey) a good opportunity to raise the Emotionality of the Magical Girls involved. Just be sure to use the L and R Trigger buttons, followed by the Square button to execute a proper "harvesting" measure. It won't indicate what routes you need to take to find them, though. There are some very good exchanges/dialogues that do trigger from this, so don't miss out on them.
  • Farm the Mystery Barriers for more Emotionality.
  • Please read the "Tutorials/Tips" from the Pictorial Book. They're super handy and can help you navigate the game much easier.

Side commentary:
  • This game is, from my very limited testing, very much playable on the PS Vita via Adrenaline. I can't say whether the version of GePatch or Adrenaline makes a difference, but the game was tested on a PS Vita 3.60 HENkaku Ensō , Adrenaline v7, GePatch version 0.20. No extra steps are needed, other than to drop the ISO file into your /pspemu/ISO/ folder. I can't provide too much support for the devices, aside from what I've mentioned. Bonus: You can install the PSP custom themes from the game unto your PS Vita. Just drop them into your "/pspemu/PSP/THEME/" folder. Link: https://mega.nz/file/8xtVkYZL#WpZyUvL1nnRNGhdjQk_YQXhGyj06c-RFEJZzXKO1Ttw
  • About that softlock I mentioned earlier: it's really weird. The game was asking for other dialogue files that were never present in the game to begin with. I had to manually add them into the patch. Those using an earlier patch will definitely run into the softlock. Unless the game itself had an official patch to resolve this, it may be the PPSSPP emulator's fault. Regardless, this translation patch will fix that.

...And that's that. I hope you all keep enjoying the game. I also hope that those who stopped playing the game due to a lack of translation do come back. Even if the game takes a while to translate, it doesn't feel like a project I could get bored with indefinitely. I only hope for more free time. Many thanks as always. Sayaka's Chapter is next, and I'm stoked for it.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

That's great to hear! Did you manage to fix the softlock glitch?

Yes, it is fixed. Thank goodness.

Amazing news Carlitos, I can't wait to finish the chapter! If you need help to playtest, feel free to ask.

I'll send you an early patch when I have enough done on Sayaka's Route :)

Thanks for the tips with the Q button help in the shop, this is very handy. I will finish the different endings this weekend and report if there is any issue. Again, thank you for the translation!

Edit: There we go I did it! No issue with the translation, unfortunately the game can be prone to crash in certain dungeon on emulator so I recommend using save state.
Congrats on finishing the chapter, and good luck with Sayaka' route!

Hi! I just grabbed the latest patch. So I patched the game and I was greeted with this: https://imgur.com/ruScFPu
Did I do something wrong? Maybe something to do with ppsspp? or is this intended? As seen here, the problem continues https://imgur.com/ANnsgnb . Thank you for your time!

Looks like you have an outdated font file.
You can download the updated font from here and follow the steps below.
https://mega.nz/file/lg0yWI7b#FXxGUHeRb4uI5nRHld5iDW1zHaVn9aOwoXzON7joSIc

Doing it this way will save you time from downloading the entire ISO and applying the patch again, if you have already done so.

Here's how to install the updated font file:

1. Open the program "WQSG_UMD.exe".
2. Click on "ISO".
3. Find your Madoka Magica Portable ISO file and press "Open."
4. Navigate to the "/PSP_GAME/USRDIR/Font" directory of the game. You should be able to see the file "font.fnt".
5. Drag and drop the updated "font.fnt" file you downloaded from the link above unto the directory, replacing the old one.
6. Close the program and play the game.

Thank you! That solved my problem! I want to do a let's play of this game so I am really excited about this translation. Thank you again for your quick reply!

Yey! Mami's route is complete! I can't wait to play it!! I already got shocked with the end of Madoka's route. Thank you so much for your effort!:D

Are you going to start with Sayaka's? Or do you have in mind a different order to translate the game?
Also thanks for the tips!

It's my pleasure :)

I'll be doing Sayaka's route next, since it's what comes afterwards. The game, although having multiple endings for almost every Chapter except Madoka, is still linear in progression, so Sayaka's Chapter is next.
