You can share things like ROMs, thumbnails etc between android and HOS. also makes it easy to access and manage files on your pc if they on hos partition
i just use android now on my switch for emulation most emulators i find they get more dev work on android so run a little better and no dolphin on switch
also i notice that apps like ePSXe (psx emu) on android can access the whole sd card anyway with root
personally i prefer using hekate for usb on my pc but i do find a usb3 card reader is the fastest way of moving bigger files

Out of curiosity, would this allow transfer of xci files from the pc to the usb on the switch dock for sxos users?

what you need is something like NUT or DBI Server setup on your computer to install xci files but if you just want to view the sd card on pc to copy files. if so open tinfoil on the switch and plug it into the pc and it will show up as USB device or in hekate you can plug the switch in pc and mount the sd card from its menu

Is that in hekate or android?
Should not have a problem in either have you enabler usb as in the guide
Its probably something on the pc side rather than the switch side of things try a different usb cable and a different usb port on your pc

Yeah, when I connect the switch to my pc via usb it gives me a error that says that the device couldn't be recognized. I've already tried different USB ports and another cable. I don't need to install drivers or something like that, right?

Does your pc see switch when in hos or hekate?
No drivers needed windows should just see it and install anything it needs you have enabled usb in android
Also goto device manager on your pc and see if its enabled and try an update driver not that its needed but might help
If you have an old laptop or something would be a good idea to plug it in and see if it see it

Yeah, the PC recognizes my Switch if I use the usb tool from Hekate, but not while in Android. Looks like I have some kind of problem with the MTP drivers but I don't know how to reinstall them. This is what I get in Device Manager (translates as "Unknown USB device - device descriptor request failed".

You need to try and see if it get seen on another pc/laptop so you can narrow the problem down as it may be driver related or maybe android just needs to be reinstalled

I connected my Switch to my PC via mtp with a specific homebrew and it was recognized as a mtp device so drivers are not the problem.

Gotta find another pc first lmao, thanks for the help.

I'm getting a black screen when trying to boot TWRP (Switchroot Android 10). Been holding vol up for minutes. Tried several times, reformatted and tried again. No dice. Is there any speed requirements on the SD card?

I'm stuck at step 13. I'm holding vol up before pressing Switchroot Android 10, then Hekate is shown for a second or two, then just a black screen. Holding volume up until my finger is hurting, but screen stays black.

EDIT: The Switch is turned on btw, since I need to press the power button for about 7 seconds to turn it off in order to enter RCM (Vol up + Power) again.
