Hey,
Is it worth to stay with SX OS?
I like the HDD Support but most new Games aren't working anymore.
Should i stay on an old Firmware or go with a newer one and Atmosphere?
What would be the best advise to do?

Maybe one day Atmosphere will have HDD support. Correct me if I am wrong.
Nope.

Yes it's worth staying - Just patch the required FW with NSCBuilder
Or you don't do the patching stuff and use atmosphere. No need to patch the games for a lower firmware.

The closest thing to that we'll have (which is already possible), is to be able to install from a hdd. But it depends on what installer you use.
As far as I know, these installers are the only ones that can atm
Tinfoil
Tinleaf
Tinwoo
Goldleaf (goldleaf doesn't install nsz, im unsure bout xci)

I just swapped because I accidentally updated. Sxos is waaayyy more convenient, but you're not missing out on much functionality with atmos aside from hdd support and xci loading

I would just stick with SXOS until games come out that don't run on 11.0.0. 11.0.1 didn't change the master key so new games are still playable on 11.0.0. If no more SXOS updates are released you will eventually need to switch to Atmosphere but considering TX did update SXOS after Max and Gary were arrested I don't think that it's dead yet.

AMS has hdd support if you use Xor's sys-module, it can't load XCIs though.

Exactly the boat I'm in. Not anxious to switch until I'm forced to do so. I'm expecting I'll have to eventually but no harm in waiting it out.

Personally I prefer atmosphere it always gets updated first and sx os just use a big old copy and paste button just a couple of months later
And tbh I don't understand why people would spend there hard earned money on software that is basically open source free
Yes I know the sx os fans will say usb hard drive support xci support
But usb hard drive is only useful in docked mode
Portability is the whole point of the switch

speaking of hdd support, has anyone reached some sort of limit with how many games can be installed or would that not even count? I'm at 140 with 187GBs of space left. I'm legit too. 300 could be the limit again like the wii u and the 3ds. you can probably just make it with 2TBs.

I've moved on. I own a mariko switch with SX Core and switched to Atmosphere (was rather easy) when some games required the new FW update.
So far so good, I don't care much for losing HDD support.

on a side note, I wish there was a way to mass download all games you've bought from the eshop instead of selecting them one by one. I just downloaded strikers and bravely default 2 on my hackable switch. I have two demos that I wish I could get off the list. that's why I no longer download demos. anyway, with the Mario switch, it didn't like it when I went through all downloads for cloud saves. every few downloads would get paused. I think that's the way it is with games too. it doesn't like it if you do like 10 in a row.

You can use both, there's nothing really stopping you. It's completely worth installing Atmosphere if you want your CFW to be work on the latest OFW, especially if SXOS ends up not getting an update.
