Hi y'all!

I'm helping out with some wii hacking, but we can't figure out what's the issue by now. We completed a setup using wii.guide, and now USBLoader GX straight up refuses to boot, and instead sends back automatically to the menu before even displaying anything. Note that when we used a drive on the wrong port, we had at least a usb device initialization error.

We're trying to load from a NTFS usb, at first using an usb stick but the problem still exists now with a dedicated HDD.

Thank you for your sysCheck,it is good and ok.:)

To understand you correct:

- The USBLoader GX itself (which Version do you have please ?) did not boot up ?
or
- When you boot/start a Wii Game it throws you back to the Wii Menu ?

Thank you for your Help.:)

Hi there! Thanks for your quick reply :D

As you say in your first option, it's USBLoader GX itself which doesn't start up in the first place!
We installed it using the instructions on wii.guide/usbloadergx (which... i assume installs the latest version despite it not being the forwarder? install files say 3.0 r1272 atm for what it's worth).
Meaning, we try to launch USBLoader GX from the Homebrew Channel, and launching it sends us back to the wii menu directly for some reason.

We're trying to load from a NTFS usb, at first using an usb stick but the problem still exists now with a dedicated HDD.
It works best when using FAT32 with a 32KB (32768) cluster size. You can use something like GUIFormat to easily format to it.

My version of the USB Loader GX does have better NTFS support, but I'd still recommend using FAT32.

Yep, we initially tried with a FAT32 format, but since we were planning on using a particular rip of conveniently slightly more than 4Go for testing purposes the size limit forced us to switch to NTFS in order to put the iso on the drive. I did not know of your fork tho, I'll be sure to take a look at it!

Okay, so uh. There was some miscommunication between the two of us, and apparently it's not sending directly to the Wii menu, we just... confused USBLoader GX's default interface with the Wii menu's one. I don't know how to feel about that, for personal reasons i'll choose to see this mix-up as hilarious.

Well, as long as we're here- we're now seeing that USBLoader GX reads the usb drive correctly, booting up and registering the correct used size and whatnots, but it only displays file systems (wii channel and such) and no games. Currently the drive is using FAT32 with 32k clusters, we used WBM to transfer two files- an iso of Skyward Sword, and later a WBFS file of Animal Crossing for testing purposes. Adding the second one didn't increase the game count on USBLoader GX, and apparently SS's iso was converted into wbfs at some point as well? We checked checksums just in case, but so far we don't know why USBLoader GX doesn't display those games. Any ideas?

Try using wiiflow lite, in my experience, wiiflow lite works very well, more than usb loader gx, it detects fat32 partitions, ntfs, and sd cards, even detects partitioned drive.

I have an external hdd with 2 partitions, one fat32 with 750gb and 1 ntfs partition with 2tb and works very well.

Try first with wiiflow lite, if it doesn't work, then try make 2 partitions on the drive, remember to make the fat32 partition active and primary.

Check that USB Loader GX is set to display the games.

Another possibility is that you're using an older GXGlobal.cfg file, so the paths might be wrong. Delete it and then boot USB Loader GX again.
