Nintendo is facing yet another class action lawsuit over Joy-Con drift

they are fixing joycons with no troubles though. i agree they should get in trouble for this but they still fixed two of mine and one of the issues was a broken trigger, my son clearly snapped it off the motherboard. they sent me a brand new one to replace.

also the repair is about $4 and maybe 45 minutes of time.

I have had 3 left joycons in the last 2 years develop drift. I finally decided to buy a 3rd party version instead. Went with the Gioteck JC-20 which is half the price of official Joycons and I find them to be way more comfortable than the official ones.

As deserved as these lawsuits are, they're gonna take years to resolve, and those who have been affected will be lucky to get $10 each. Maybe even in the form of an eShop gift card.

If you play in handheld mode a lot, buy yourself a Hori Splitpad Pro. I'd recommend the same thing even if joy con drift didn't exist.

I mean, the real penalty isn't the refund, it's the millions in litigation sadly.

I was wondering about Motion Plus drift (I know, not a hardware defect).
Why does the Wii U Gamepad NOT suffer from drift? Because of the gyro?
Is it techically possible to have a Wiimote Plus without drift (if you add the thing Wii U Gamepads have)?

For someone who has their hobbies in this field. The Joycon is quite finicky to work with, as there's quite a few ribbon cables and parts to disassemble. Furthermore it requires a semi-proprietary tri-wing screwdriver to open. I'd give them a pass if this was as easy as changing the buttons/joystick in something like an Xbox Elite controller, but the Joycon is way more complicated than that. I've had 3 other people straight up buy a new pair of Joycons due to this issue.

you're not wrong. lucky the left controller, the one with he drift issues, is the easier of the two to fix. I've replaced a few shells, and the right one always gives me a bit of trouble.

That's the pots becoming worn, it's litterally unavoidable and only happens after years of using a controller everyday whereas joycon drift happens quickly with minimal use.
