Is the original Super Mario Bros game on NES considered a VC title? I have it already, could I use that to run the exploit?

CBHC [This old version] requests DS VC on boot, if location has been changed or becomes unreadable, it fails to start up Haxchi DS VC and thus doesn't know what to do anymore. [It just sends code to display error about system memory]
If you used this, use button combination it has, it might work. [read: might]
Spam that button combination on Wii U logo screen. [This is when syshax.xml redirects boot to DS VC]
To decrypt you require OTP key. It's impossible to decrypt Wii U's NAND even if it's dumped without OTP key. You can attempt, but you will get bad extract and Wii U's NAND might even die if corrupted firmware is flashed. [Not that badly but eh, you can guess what would happen]

Refer to @OP for key combination, i bet it will probably not work but try.
I do not understand what you mean by "Refer to @OP for key combination" Is this an email? Sorry for my ignorance on the subject

O ok. But a tutorial I saw states that first you need Haxchi, then you can install CBHC. Is that correct?
In reality you don't need to install Haxchi to install CBHC.
But to make you don't "accidently" brick due to DS VC title suddenly not working, you need to install Haxchi and test if it boots HBL apps without crashes, freezes etc.
Then proceed to install CBHC after you're sure everything works. [something like safety net, if it doesn't work, don't install CBHC over it]

So to start off I need to purchase Puzzler Brain Games for $7.99 correct?

Why would Haxchi not work in the first place ? Like is there could be any problems because I don not want to waste the game money for nothing .

Haxchi is required to be working before cbhc, so in the rare case the nds isn't overwritten you can recover with haxchi.
If you don't install haxchi beforehand, and the nds fails to overwrite, your wii u will basically become a nds game :P

What if Haxchi did not work ? Is there any other way you can run CBHC ?

Hey if anyone installs haxchi over cbhc. All you have to do is press and hold B to enter into HBL when it is doing the boot loop, and then install cbhc again. I deleted haxchi before I did this, dont know if that makes a difference. But yeah if you ever do install haxchi over cbhc, just do this and you should be fine. Should be an easy fix, thought my Wii U was a goner lol.

if you fear a brick just dont install coldboot haxchi.

If you install coldboot haxchi, just dont mess around reinstalling haxchi or stuff like that (also why want you do that, whats the purpose?)

follow these easy rules and cbhc is safe:
- only install this title to the nand
- dont install the same game again
- if you have to remove cbhc use the deinstall option
- just dont mess around with the cbhc game
- if you brick your wiiu you have to do a so called hardmod, which needs soldering skill (you need to solder on the wiiu pcb) and you need the right file(s) (before you bricked your wiiu)

again if you fear a brick (and cant/wont afford buying a used wiiu without accessories in that case), just use either haxchi (and if you dont want to buy a game, indexiine)

make a backup of the nand (slc.bin and otp.bin are the most important). if you have one or the other, a brick is fixable. you either need the slc.bin from before installing cbhc or the otp.bin before or after (doesn't matter) to use cbhcremover. the otp.bin is what decrypts the slc.bin.

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.
