XCI-Cutter tool (Windows)

main.png

XCI-Cutter

Features:

- cuts off (trims) unused sectors
- optionally cuts in pieces (splits)
- batch processing

This tool reads the XCI-Header to determine the full cartridge-size and the actually used space.

By default, the tool checks if the sectors after the used space/gamedata are really unused (filled with FF).
It refuses to cut, if it finds any data in that area (this check can be bypassed by using "Fast Mode").

The tool can be used to restore these FF-sectors and expand XCI-files back to the full cartridge size.

@ChronoX_ compiled a list with actual datasizes over at:

UPDATE 20.06.2018:
Trimmed and split games are now fully compatible with SX OS!

!!! Important Note: !!!
Dumps that were split with a version before v2.4.2,
have to be joined/uncut using that OLDER version.
And afterwards split again using the NEW version.

After splitting, my XCIs dont show any thumnbails or correct name on SX OS
Is this a problem with XCI cutter or SX OS?
Thanks

So I noticed that this tool hasn't been updated since 2018, has it been abandoned?

Because I ran into an XCI file of a newer game that it gave the error "Your source file does not look like an XCI file" when I tried to load it in XCI-Cutter, but said XCI loads fine in Yuzu. I wasn't able to find any alternative to it.

- All xci tools are in various state of abandonment as nearly no one uses that format
- There a multiple tools available you can find on gbatemp
- the error message should state an additional reason on to why it is not an xci file (size too small or no file selected)
- the xci tools still work all
- without any knowledge of which file you are using nobody can really help you

Hardly anyone uses it? What are you talking about? It's still the standard and most used format for cartridge dumps of Switch games.

And it didn't give any additional reasons.

The game was the US version of Game Tengoku CruisinMix Special

Pretty sure NSC_Builder is what everyone uses now. It also outputs to XCI not sure what that guy is talking about XCI being abandoned or not used.
