Hi,

i want to buy a used Switch which is CfW able - there are plenty of offers, with Tinfoil or just Atmosphere etc - what should i specifically look out for or avoid?

I do not really care about online play or eshop so even i banned one would be fine i guess, it should just be simply to use e.g. no fuse glitching or whatever after every reboot like i would have todo on my Wii-U right now when i want to install something new.

Any hints?

Thanks

The CFW and Homebrew on it doesn't matter mutch, you'll have to update those regularly anyways. For the secound part, unfortunetly you will have to send a payload every time you turn on your device. That can be done from external devices (PC, phone, Dongle), or Internal chips (Trinket). That beeing said, you can maintain the console on sleepmode pretty much the hole year if you want, thus, not needing anything else.

Well, is it possible to somehow disable turning off the switch? I want to buy one for my little ones and don't want to glitch it every time they accidently turned it off wrongly.

I wouldn't worry much, the system encourages you to maintain it in sleep mode, and you would have to go out of your way to turn it off(holding power for a few secounds) to bring up power options, witch includes reboot, sleep, and shut down. Reboot will reboot to CFW. And if they do turn it of, or let the battery die, it will boot to the OFW or Into RCM mode if Autorcm is on... witch means it will give a black screen to them till you send the pay load... i would worry at all... but check out Trincket harmod and see if you are interested

Well first thing you need to get is an unpatched unit if possible, if you get a patched unit or V2, you would have to resort to SX Core/Lite.

With the unpatched unit you have a few ways to run the RCM exploit either a computer, a dongle, a phone to send the payload or even a SAMD21 modchip, like a Trinket M0 stated above.

The closest thing to a cold boot would be the modchip along with autoboot configuration.

Another tip: Don't setup wifi (or remove your accesspoint from the list), this will further reduce the risk of an accidental upgrade..

That is basically impossible since the console has a battery unless you leave it in the dock and tape it down.

Hacked switch craching is something that happens all the time, booting it back up is something you want to learn your self and teach your little ones how to do if they are old enough

Sysnand for the kids and emummc for your hacking needs , thats always an option

Um...I'm not sure why you quoted me because I am not OP.

EDIT: Quote has been fixed.
