It occurs at this point that the bulk of the library for the PS3, 360 and Wii are more than 10 years old*. DS and even more so GBA too.

*mario galaxy was 2007, skate 2 was 2009, Max Payne 3 was 2012, Borderlands 1 was 2009... we can all look at the likes of https://web.archive.org/web/20190806100706/http://www.abgx.net/xbox360_releases_date.txt and https://web.archive.org/web/20190907165824/http://www.abgx.net/wii_releases_date.txt and see what came out when (some of those might be a week or two before street date but within reason)

Relatively speaking this would like sitting playing NES stuff when the N64 was new. However the changes between PS360 and now are relatively fewer, even the "cheap to make" nature of the Wii does not count for a whole lot in this beyond a resolution bump. Or if you prefer had you started to properly get into games at 6, never mind gaining enough reaction speed and processing power to compete against older siblings, then you may well be finishing high school today. If you are closer to the legally mandated minimum age for joining the site then the games were likely already old news (several sequels out and such) in some regards before you were born.

Granted looking at much of the libraries then several things were rereleased, remastered, remade, reformulated, reworked and several other things that in real person speak translate as rehashed for the newer things and thus they might be some flavour of current. Though equally I would say many of the original titles have aged far better than things a generation before that (PS2, xbox, gamecube) and most certainly the one before that (PS1, N64, Saturn and arguably Dreamcast though that might have been the PS2 generation).

I am then curious. Does playing PS360 stuff make me as tragically unhip (hips likely also having to be replaced before long and all that) as playing NES might have when everybody else was staring at N64 jaggies?

Very interesting point, I'm eager to see what the young whippersnappers have to say about it lol

But.... I will throw this out there. A good game is like a good song. Doesn't matter when it was made, it's good none the less and will stand the test of time. The amount of remakes and rehashes proves this. We lived through the golden age of gaming don't forget!

I see a hell of a lot of younger people who listen to music from the 70s so I wouldn't say being hip or unhip/cool comes into it. If one wants to snigger at me playing a snes game while they listen to a led zepplin album.... Ooh the irony!

I'm 18. I love that era. My first Wii game was twilight princess. the Xbox 360 isn't as fun anymore because Xbox Online I think is dead on there. I never really had a ps3, so I don't know what to say about it. My dad bought a wii hard drive full of games for us around the time the wii was new, and I just love the wii so much, cmoc, forecast, news, mii maker, everybody votes, photo channel, nintendo channel, wii shop etc. it's so good

I'm younger than FAST but I spend a lot of time playing games from that era, in the case of Xbox 360 and Wii I still have real hardware plugged in

Not on this account - but I'll never forget the scene release threads from back in the day. Being young and broke back then was nice on those consoles...

Hello.:)

In Comparison to our Primeval Rock "GBAtemp Gandalf" @FAST6191
I am a very young Wii Gamer (since 2013).
I like this innovativ Video Gaming Device very much and by Developers like Grandpa @Cyan it makes more and more Fun to play with the Wii.

I do not really need or like the PlayStation 3 and XBox 360.Many of the Games from that Consoles I have played on the PC.So I do not really "miss" that Video Gaming Devices.

The Wii have many "unique" Titles.

So ,as younger (Wii Gaming) Member,I am proud to be still a Wii Gamer.:yaywii:

Thank you.:)

My first video game console was a Nintendo Wii, even tho, I played N64 and Gamecube first, so, I practically just replay games from that generations over and over. But I can say, I have a lot of fun memories with my Nintendo Wii and some games of the Xbox 360 of a friend. From that generation everything started to felt apart in my opinion. I'm more of playing old games guy, new games in this generations just, don't fit with me at all. Unless its an indie game. For some reason I play a lot of them lol.

I feel like as more time gets set between it and the present day, the more the Wii will stop being associated directly with the PS3 and 360. It was both it's own thing and more of an extension on the GameCube's life when you really think about it. Yeah it's its own system, but the Wii to me feels more and more like the motion controlled enhanced GameCube than a proper 7th gen console.

One word should sum it up. WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!
Some kids are on a playground one day and up pops a genie.

Slide down this slide, say what you wish for and it will be granted.

One kid
I want the ultimate game playing machine, one that has the best games ever seen.
The kid gets an xbox 360.
I want the ultimate game playing machine, one that has lots of good games and the ability to play videos.
Kid 2 gets a PS3.
Wiiiiiiiii
.... you don't want to know what kid 3 landed in.

Poor joke I know (I mean both 1 and 2 would have got PCs if it had been a good one) but had to be done.

What if I told you the wii is literally just a gamecube with more ram, overclocked cpu,and a better gpu
