I'm looking for some assistance. Unfortunately have not been able to succeed with modding my switch even though:
- it is a model that wasn't patched
- i worry that it's not possible because the console is up to date
(The two items i tried to get the boot mode to load to install firmware didn't work, leading to me giving up for awhile sadly)

I thought that the jig that I got would work, but I couldn't seem to get it to properly load the switch in recovery mode.
I don't know if the two I tried were just faulty, or if it's just the fact my system is currently up to date.

I'm a bit dense, so if i'm just completely looking over the obvious answer I am sorry. I mostly just want to either backup my ACNH save or at least change the name of my island.

If https://ismyswitchpatched.com says your console is not patched then it doesn't matter what version of FW it is running (bar possible issues with the very latest v11) - you should still be able to get it to boot into rcm.

Make sure you insert the jig fully into the right hand side of the console, hold the volume+ up button down and press the power button. If you just see a black screen (and you don't see the Switch logo) then the console is in RCM.

I currently have a original Nintendo Switch running 3.0.0. As we all where hoping for a coldboot or something for 3.0.0 users I kinda forgot about it while having fun with my regular up to date console.

Just yesterday I ordered myself a "RCM loader" of off eBay. So now I guess I have a month or two to read up before it arrives from China.

Did any "golden ticket" ever materialize for 3.0.0 consoles? Or should I just update it to whatever current FW there is when I get my RCM loader?

I recently got my unpatched Switch all setup with Atmosphere via RCM. I only did this so that I could dump 2 games I have on cartridge so I can play them without having to carry them with me. I noticed that all my games were showing like usual when booting up but they all showed that I had to download them again. Ofc in sysMMC they show installed and playable like normal.

If I move the Nintendo folder from X:\ over to X:\emuMMC\RAW1\Nintendo, will this allow me to boot up into Atmosphere and continue to play all my eShop games and these 2 games (after I figure out how to dump them)? This is all I want to do with my system and I never power it down so unless I forget to charge it, I should never have to boot up via RCM again... right?

Currently, you can utilize Deja Vu which is a softmod available for firmware versions 1.0-4.1 and it involves loading the browser to hack the console. There is no estimated release time of what I presume you mean "untethered coldboot exploit" as the current exploit (Fusee Gelee) is technically already coldboot.

Yes and yes.
Thanks for the response. So onto the next question, with my system on 11.0 and most things working atm, is there a 'best way' to backup my cartridges and then play them on my system? Searching has resulted in numerous methods and some of the ones I tried didn't seem to work and it looks like because not everything is up to date. I don't mind waiting but would love to explore any option if I can while I have the time. Thanks again!

You have 2 options. The easier option is to install the cartridge directly with Gamecard Installer NX. The problem is the app has not been updated in a while so I am not sure if it still works or not but never hurts to try. The slower method that will work is to dump it with NXDumptool and then install it with any title manager. I personally recommend Awoo Installer.

Well that first option is currently doing its thing. I'll update on if it works after but looking good so far. Thanks!!

edit: Yay it worked!! I had to update a few things but in the end I got it working.

Hi guys, I cant install the hbmenu,
My system Info: 11.0.0 |AMS 0.16.0 | E

hbmenu.nro is placed in the root of my exfat sd, I can connect to my wifi and I got a working connection.
When I change the DNS it blinks and says It can not connect error 2110-3400, if I try it again I get just a blank screen and the text "ok" or "ctest.cdn.nintendo.net"

Maybe one of you knows the issue. thank you

Well for starters, I don't see how an Internet connection is required for the homebrew menu. Secondly, don't use exFAT as it can corrupt your SD card. Thirdly, you don't "install" the homebrew menu; once you're booted into CFW and the hbmenu.nro is on the root of your SD card, you just go into the Album to boot the homebrew menu.

I've not used my switch for a very long time and just now came back to try and update it. The new SXOS 3.1.0 Beta version and firmware 11.0 installed correctly on the CFW and it boots up without a problem. But a slight miscalculation on my part made me forget that I had to update first the original FW instead of the CFW. so now I get an error whenever I try to boot up the original firmware as it's still stuck in 9.1. More specifically I get the following error code "2002-2634".

Before I make any other mistake I'm asking if downgrading with ChoiDujourNX back to 9.1 on the CFW could help me fix this issue and log back into the original FW in order to update it. I've read around that doing this can brick my switch so I want to be sure of this, if not then I would apreciate it if there exists any other alternatives to update the original FW.

Hi there,I am looking for some help. I recently bought an unpatched switch and hacked it following "switch home-brew guide". I followed their instructions and prepared the sd card from sd setup . I am using a MacBook and instead of using fusee launcher by reswitched I couldn't get this to work I used fusee-interface-tk, this sent the payload fine and I followed all further instructions RE :

Backing up NAND and BIS keys

Enabling GDPR Protections

Blocking updates and telemetry with 90 DNS

Created an emuMMC

I am now at a stage where I can boot into cfw via RCM and my jig, and when I go into "album" I get the home-brew menu in applet mode I now would like to boot xci/nsp files and after an unsuccessful attempt at installing tinfoil I have installed awoo installer and ns usbloader but this doesn’t work via usb mode or lan mode. I think because I need to boot awoo loader not in applet mode but by holding r whilst booting a title? I tried to go back into stock mode and download youtube from the e shop but was given error code 2155 8007 and was told to perform a system update, i’m finding this very confusing and any help would be appreciated thanks in advance Marc

First of all, you are supposed to update the CFW before you update the firmware. Secondly, that issue is due to a cartridge being inserted. Take it out and the error will go away.

Do you not have any installed titles or cartridges?

From my experience ... in the vast majority of cases, awoo installer works absolutely fine installing over LAN in applet mode.

I just got a launch model switch that has never been used (lucky break on it, especially at a price of $375; Facebook Marketplace beats the hell out of eBay for stuff like this, imo) but I'm totally new to modding it. I gather that this is the go-to guide to use for this? https://nh-server.github.io/switch-guide/user_guide/getting_started/

Also, is it okay to go ahead and update the thing using the official Nintendo method since I haven't done anything to the system yet? I've only turned it on twice and never connected it to the internet. I read something about "burning fuses" and didn't want to inadvertently screw something up. The guide also says to download an eShop game or demo like "10 Second Run RETURNS." I take it I do all this on the SysNAND before I even start doing stuff with the EmuNAND? A few things aren't explicitly clear on the guide and I just want to make sure.

I've read there's some controversy about using the same SD for both NANDs but I'd like to go with that to keep from wearing out the card slot. It's 256gb so I figure it's big enough. I've also got an RCM loader with the jig tool, so I think I have everything I need.

If you guys have any other advice or tips for someone just getting into modding for the Switch, I'd be grateful for the help. Thanks!

I wouldn't recommend updating yet as the latest firmware is 11.0 and it is still a bit unstable for CFW/homebrew. The guide also recommends you to download a title because you can use that title to launch the homebrew menu with more RAM (it will make more sense once you're using homebrew apps). You don't necessarily need it as you can achieve the same effect with a cartridge or by installing the homebrew menu as a .NSP file. If you want to download a title, I would recommend doing it before setting up emuMMC so that way it carries over to emuMMC. Lastly, some people think that Nintendo scans the SD card which is a load of malarkey because not only is that potentially illegal due to privacy violations but it is not enough evidence to claim that someone is hacking as that SD card can be used for many reasons.
