Hello guys, how's it going?

I've recently bought a second hand Wii that already came in softmodded, with HBC, a USB loader, and also an ugly system theme. So, because I wanted to change the theme, I was doing some research on it and stumbled upon some "brick warnings", which pointed out that it's smart to have bootmii on boot2 or Priiloader. That made me aware that I don't have either, so here's the thing:
- Modmii says it cannot be installed on boot2, only as an ISO, which I already have installed.
- Priiloader states very clear in their wiki that it might brick my console if I have custom ISOs, which I do.

Here's my syslog

So that raises the question: how can I install any sort of brick protection, such as Priiloader, on my Wii without the risk of bricking it in the first place?

Hello,

Considering your syscheck report, install either the version of cios d2x in final version 8 or version 10 beta 52 (these are the two best versions of cios), with Modmii. (If you wish you can repost a new syscheck report, for control)

Install Bootmii in IOS (you have already done it).

To install bootmii in boot 2, it was the first wii released (don't ask me in what year).

Make a Nand backup of your wii with bootmii.

Then install Priiloader, it's here ==>https://wii.guide/priiloader.html

Take all the precautions to install a new theme.:teach::yaywii:

Thanks! Do I really need to install these other CIOSs? I've also posted an issue in Priiloader's github repo and got a quick answer saying that based on my syslog everything should go just fine. Can you vouch for it? If I install Priiloader the way it is, will it go ok?

Wait... So, if I can install Priiloader the way it is, it means that I don't really need to install the other CISOs, right?

You should install the mentioned cIOS versions because that means you won't run into any compatibility issues along the way. It's perfectly safe, don't worry

Also, do you have a NAND backup? Priiloader/BootMii won't help much without it.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Also, you might already have Priiloader. Completely shut down your Wii by holding Power until the light turns red, then hold Reset and press Power while still holding it. What appears?

Priiloader would be listed in his syscheck if installed :)

Easiest solution, in my opinion, open your syscheck using ModMii for windows, it will tell you exactly what optimizations should be done (and skip many that might be redundant). It will build you a custom guide based on your syscheck, then provide you with all the necessary files for your sd card in order to follow the steps listed in your custom guide.

Edit:
- Modmii says it cannot be installed on boot2, only as an ISO, which I already have installed.
I just wanted to add that I think it's funny how the OP has referenced modmii (when he really meant bootmii). I know often ppl mix these things up, but somewhere in the OPs travels he picked up the term ModMii and yet appears to not be familiar with the actual tool :)

Oh, I didn't even notices that I mixed those up lol. It's probably because yesterday I was googling about what this tool is, since it came in with the SD card. :P

OMG, the almighty XFlak replied to me! xD Glad to see you haven't completely left the scene (although ModMii hasn't seen an 'update' in a while, although it doesn't really need one :P )

I honestly wish Wii Mini/BlueBomb support could be added, but I don't think it's 100% necessary, however.

I installed it guys! Everything worked fine! Many thanks to everyone, you guys rock! :)
Please note that if you install a theme (custom or stock) you overwrite priiloader
So either live with the ugly theme or take every precaution and follow the instructions exactly to install a new theme or else you are still not brick protected.

Not true, installing a theme does not uninstall priiloader. Installing a completely new system menu does (or reinstalling the same one), but just a theme, does not.

Thanks! An update is just about ready, bluebomb won't be added but str2hax and some other things will be. Mainly just need to finish some new guide videos and it will be ready. I'm not sure if it will be ready before 2021 but if will be close!

Yeah thank. I have bootmii@boot2 and I know what not to do so I never really thought about it but then I saw so many posts about bricking Wii by installing themes

Yup, all those theme bricks could have recovered by having priiloader installed (or bootmii @ boot2) before messing around with themes, same goes for banner bricks by installing 'bad' channels. Randomness, I think banner bricks will only crash the console if the problematic channel is on the first page of the system menu, so some folks may have been able to survive this type of brick even without priiloader or bootmii@boot2. Consider that your fun wii fact for the day, lol
