GUYS I FIGURED OUT HOW TO INSTALL DLC FOR JUST DANCE THROUGH SD CARD
follow this guide! https://docs.google.com/document/d/1A9ycUtEHjfriP8XL2wEV4amATpRjFccdiDeZK3tZiaw/edit

Hi, so I’m in a bit of a pickle here actually. So I installed Just Dance 2 and 3 to my wii and if you didn’t know they actually have quite a bit of dlc, and what you probably really don’t know is that the DLC (extra songs) works on sd cards! you can have the dlc on an sd card and it still shows up on the game when you launch it and you can play it! my issue is the wads full of each dlc are too big to install to my system memory. Just Dance 2’s dlc wad is around 550 mb and just dance 3’s is over 900 mb! since the vwii only has 512 mb i tried to take it upon myself to decrypt the wad files for each game to take the dlc for each games wad and separate them between 3 smaller wads per game, repack them, install them to my vwii as small bundles of dlc so there will be no overload and i can immediately move them to my sd card. unfortunately, when i try to repack the dlc to smaller wads (i retain the important 00000000.app, 00000001.app, and certification, title, etc.; 00000002.app is not used as a channel banner so it’s exempt from this specific wad) i’ve been trying to repack the wads with the program showmiiwads but it says “there’s at least one file missing when repacking”. is there any luck in me being able to pack the smaller wads? (at first i actually forgot to include the necessary files i previously mentioned and it had a different error about missing files). i don’t know if many people here know about wads and their files but basically, i think possibly the certification, and title files inside the wad are linking the specific wad to EVERY dlc and i don’t know how to link it to only the dlc in that specific wad.... if anyone knows anything about wads i would really appreciate your help here!

You'll be restricted to the vWii's small internal storage when you use DLC songs for the likes of Just Dance, Rock Band, and Guitar Hero. The best way around this is to set up an emunand on the USB drive you use to store vWii games. That way you can have as much DLC songs as your usb hard drive can store. I've done this and have a ton of extra Wiiware and DLC songs for all those games I've listed including the Just Dance games.

Having said that, I set up my emunand such a long time ago that I wouldn't be the best one to explain how to do it. But look around, it's been discussed many times over the years, you should be able to get it working how you want if you look into creating an emunand for your Wii/vWii. Also, make sure you use USB Loader GX to handle your emunand games, as it is the best loader for working with emunand.

no, i think you misunderstood me. the wads are for dlc for just dance 2 & 3 and work when on the sd card. i can play just dance wii games from the wii u and it reads the sd card for dlc content and you can play songs from there. i don’t need to store it permanently on the vwiis limited storage. im trying to figure out how to split the big dlc wads (because the dlcs too big to even be installed on system storage to then move to the sd card and there’s no way to install wads directly to the sd card) for each just dance into smaller wads. i do have to put them to internal storage at first (that’s why i need the wads split apart) but then i can transfer it all to an sd card with way more storage so there’s no data limit for the dlc or anything

If you go the emunand route then space no longer becomes an issue. I recall that limit being a problem with DLC wads on Guitar Hero and Rock Band games too, the later ones that allowed for SD storage, it was still problematic, and the only solution I ever found to allow me to store as many DLC wads as I like was emunand. There may be other solutions to your issue, but doing the emunand route would allow you to install as many dlc wads as you like. You should see the amount of DLC I have for my Wii copies of Just Dance and more, Rock Band has well over 1,000 DLC Songs added, Guitar Hero probably around 400 or something.

well unless i can do emunand on an sd card i can’t do it. i’m on a wii u and the usb can’t also be used for emunand because of all the titles i already have on the main wii u system. and either way, if i could just split the dlc wads into multiple smaller wads i could install them to system memory and then move them to my sd card it would be perfect! if only it wasn’t giving me an error everytime i tried to pack the mini wads...

I use 2 USB Drives with my Wii U, one for Wii U games, the other for vWii games, emunand, etc. Works great.

Also, with USB Loader GX, you can have your emuNand on your SD if you wish.

well, good for you. i’ve tried doing emunand already but i got stuck on a part about the ios patching or whatever. it was supposed to turn green when i did a guide but it failed and i couldn’t find a way to fix it/patch the ios. but what would be even better is if i could just get the just dance dlc wads converted into multiple smaller wads and just import them to the wii memory with a wad manager and then transfer them to the sd card, that would be so great and awesome if i could find out how to do that!

well like I said, it's been a long time since I set it up, so I can't really direct you through it, but there were definitely needlessly more complicated explanations on how to set it up in the past as I recall. Anyway, don't miss the edit in that last post, you can indeed set up emunand on an SD Card instead of a USB drive when used in USB Loader GX. So that is a solution available to you, perhaps not what you're looking for, but if you do it right, it will work on a vWii and achieve what you're looking for and more.

well thanks for the help! maybe i’ll try to just set that up on my sd card then, if i can’t find a way to pack the wads separately and import them to my wii.
