Oscar Isaac reportedly to star as Solid Snake in Metal Gear Solid live-action movie adaptation

According to an exclusive report from Deadline, actor Oscar Isaac is set to take on the role of the iconic Solid Snake in the Metal Gear Solid live-action movie adaptation. Issac, known for his role of Poe Dameron in Star Wars, even expressed his interest to portray Snake last year in an interview. It seems like he will actually get the coveted role.

Regarding the movie, not much is known, other than it will be directed by Jordan Vogt-Robets, director of Kong: Skull Island, overt MGS fan and even made a cameo in Death Stranding. Additionally, the script will apparently be written by Derek Connolly while Avi Arad will be producing.

How the movie adaptation will fit in the MGS video game timeline hasn't been revealed but we could start to get more details following this news.

Oscar Isaac is a good actor but his voice and behavior is way to beta. Hollywood lacks anyone with the testicular fortitude to play this role anymore, the few they have left are to old. Russel Crow could of pulled it off but you need a Eastwoood or Heston.

This will not be as good as the MGS movies we already have.

Not my first choice, but I'm also not a diehard Metal Gear fan. I'll wait on judgement til the film is out. Overall, I'm a fan of Oscar Isaac and I'm certain his performance will be just fine at the absolute least.

Hmmm I get we cant get Kurt Russel again ... which is a damn right shame,
But Poe? He doesn't look / sound in any way shape or form of Snake.
You would think they could do a better typecasting than him.

IKR? Given how they can de-age and make actors look younger, you think they'd try to get the guy who's literally Snake on film on board. Hell, in the weird parallel universe that this film would have any potential and they got the chance to make a sequel, and assuming nothing happens to Russell, they could put him in the Old Snake role if they wanted to mirror things how they were in the games.

I'm sure, if this movie ever comes out, that MGS will be a better movie-game adaptation of Escape from New York than the game-movie translation this will turn out to be.

whats with all these game adaptations?

People grasping at straws for adaptions of games that were themselves inspired by old movies but didn't use the license of said movie so they could focus more on making a good game as opposed to shelling out for a product that has to be out to promote a movie that, by its very nature, wouldn't you'd just rather watch the movie instead?

Me? I prefer game, but its nice to watch a movie if its out...but i didn't see any movie so far that wowed me. Latest i watched was Sonic movie and it was....meh..average...not to mention that sonic character and looks is all wrong but that's another story.

Im still waiting to Metroid movie inspired by Alien movie xD

I'd rather just watch the first two Alien movies and call it a day. Unless if it's supposed to be some weird sidestory or something related to the games themselves like I think that one Dead Space movie was (I think it was a prequel that detailed the outbreak of the Necromorphs and how they infected the colony that you explore in the first game), adapting a full game, especially one that has a character that's mostly silent and is also alone I can't see working too well nowadays.

I could see them trying to make a movie about the Federation team trying to steal the Metroids, but unless you got some sort of twist (kind of like the one at the end of Federation Force, as much as I'd rather pretend as that shitstain and the baby puke that is Metroid Other M doesn't exist) at the end to imply someone survived with a lone Metroid as a sort of lead-in to some post-Fusion Metroid game.

Until then, we're gonna have to wait dreadfully for whatever Metroid Prime 4 brings us...if it ever comes out.

Talking about de-aging, they did it using CGI with a couple of actors in The Irishman. The results weren't bad at all. They could do it with Kurt Russell. Or cast Christian Bale. He's still fit for the role with his current appearance and Snake would look more real if they used him. ^_^

i didnt like dead space at all tbh.
Anyway, movies and games are like apples and oranges. Only way they cross paths is that they are both a form of entertainment.

Id much reather watch samus story...but i believe that if they do make metroid movie that it would be of her origin which would suck...for me at least, since i already know her origin and it would be "milliont" time i learn about it. Im wishing for something fresh, untold.
I dont have high hopes for prime 4 tbh. Not because i dont want to spoil it for my self by having low hopes, but really, considering whats nintendo doing lately, how they follow trends, and what people like and the fact that they want to please fans (i mean they apologise and switched development to retro, thats one sign imo that they want to please fans by letting retro make metroid (even though its not the same retro) because fans would want that)

Anyway, lastly its my guts feeling and experience that prime 4 would PROBABLY not be very good...

Oscar Isaacs is a good actor I'm sure he'll be good, but when making a movie based on a game, you're already fighting an uphill battle.

Trying to overcome the video game to movie stigma is bad enough, but if the fans of the video game can't relate to the actor chosen to portray the lead, you risk alienating the portion of users who would see the movie regardless (who could atleast help it break even).

Christian Bale, whilst not Solid Snake like, would be magnificent, he's proven this time and again, I'm not sure he would take the role though .

To be honest, Konami don't deserve the movie succeeding, they've shown what they think if their extremely loyal fans, it's disgusting.

he has a soft voice, hoping David Hyter Re-dub the film for the fans with his Voice:rofl2:

also the same way modders fix our broken Games, they can use Deep Fakes Software and insert Hyters face!
