Hardware Best HDD size ?

I recently finally managed to hacked my Wii U, but don't have an HDD on hand ((well I do but it's used for my wii already))
What is the best HDD size consedering it'll mostly be filled with the games I own ?

it all depends on the total size of games you own.

personal opinion:

1TB or 2TB is already not bad.

Then it's up to you to see

Is it still the case that you need a powered hdd or using a y-cable? Do "normal" modern hdd's with a single USB work now?

Hello,

Yes, it is better to get a Y cable with an external hard drive, for a better connection with the console.

USB keys are strongly not recommended (often black screen, are not recognized by the console) :hateit:

More than 160GB is kind of a waste.

Realistically, how many games are you gonna put on there?

I don't know why flash drives aren't recommended. I heard that it's because it gets written to a lot and that could wear it out. But why would it be written to a lot? When you put in a cd it's certainly not writing to it. I used a flash drive for quite a while and had no issues. I only switched to a regular hard drive for more space. Maybe using a cheap bad flash drive will cause problems.

Like I said, probably people using trash flash drives or knock offs. There are a lot of those. I used a good drive and it worked great.

I think you're right about read cycles; they don't wear out the flash memory.

I used a thumb drive for years with no issue.

Funny story, I had a science teacher in college tell me
"Be careful with magnets around your thumbdrives, class. They could erase your data."

I had to explain to him that flash drives aren't magnetic media :teach:

Size of HDD vary depend on how much a person wants to install, having a larger size HDD doesn't hurt.
