Hayato13 there's n other way round the sx core modchip? was hoping that I cfw of sorts was being made or something to avoid that modchip
Afaik patched models started to get produced in 2018 so it should be unpatched.I have to know: i find in ebay a used 2017 switch, but it sell so fast that i cant ask fw and serial in time. So, i'll must buy it as it available, and i wanted to know if ALL 2017 models are 100% moddable (i read an article that the first patched models come out in half of 2018).
If it's a 2017 model then if it's not a launch console it's damn close, you'll be fineI have to know: i find in ebay a used 2017 switch, but it sell so fast that i cant ask fw and serial in time. I worded that poorly, I meant if the process was the same haha. Anyway I noticed the guide has a separate selection for installing cfw without emunand and it goes through the backup process so I should be fine. Thanks again for your answers.Likely, but it's always a good idea to have a more recent backup. Now your singular most important thing to have backed up us your consoles biskeys.
I posted a tutorial the other day so long as you don't format something wrong as long as you have your biskeys you can even recover from prodinfo brickers and anything else that would corrupt it
I hope that you had a backup from incognito because you need to restore that and using Incognito IS NOT recommended on SysNAND, don't do it again. YourHi all,
i own an unpatched Switch since December 2017.
Months after i bought it i made a CLEAN backup in 4.1.0 if i remember correctly (on the original microsd and other hdds) and then i installed atmosphere with incognito_rcm (and 90dns to be pretty safe) to run homebrews, directly to Sysnand
I NEVER went online without incognito and 90dns
Now i bought a third microsd to create an emuMMC partition (to run homebrews) and RESTORING the clean sysnand (using the original microsd exfat) to reach eshop to buy other games.
I read many tutorials but i want to ask if i got it perfectly:
1) rebooting to hekate with my actual setup
2) remove the old microsd (the second one, it is in fat32) and insert the new third one (always formatted in fat32)
3) partition this new microsd AND create a new emummc on it (removing then just the auto-rcm feature)
4) copy nintendo folder (and switch folder) to the new emummc partition (and hekate and atmosphere of course)
5) reinject the original exfat microsd and RESTORE the CLEAN sysnand
6) use this original exfat microsd for SYSNAND only and use the third fat32 for emummc ONLY
With these steps i should:
- have a clean sysnand with just nintendo folder, perfectly capable to go online to eshop and buy games
- have a emummc fat32 microsd just for homebrews (it SHOULD already been in incognito because i create it copying the dirty sysnand)
- when i want to run sysnand i just need to shut off the console, use the right microsd and power it on
- when i want to run emmuc i just need to use the fat32 microsd and USE the jig then my phone to inject hekate (then run atmo in emummc)
Am i correct?
Did i miss something?
Is it useless to still waiting for a coldboot (without using the jig?)
I hope that you had a backup from incognito because you need to restore that and using Incognito IS NOT recommended on SysNAND, don't do it again. Your
1) Restore your NAND backup and incognito backup. (Your saves will be GONE most probably, you can copy them with Checkpoint before restoring.)
2) Update your Hekate and Atmosphere on the SD Card that you are going to load emuMMC.
3) Load to Hekate on the card that you want EmuMMC and click on emuMMC button. Follow the instructions to Create an EmuMMC, make it as Hidden Partition. Remove Auto-RCM.
4) Use emuMMC card for homebrew stuff and the clean SD Card for Online. You can also backup your photos.
5) Restore your saves with Checkpoint on EmuMMC.
Did you backup your keys with Lockpick or Lockpick RCM?Check, check, check aaaand check!
Thanks for the info, but i have 1 more question:
If i restore a clean nand backup (boot0, boot1 and rawnand) it should remove the incognito_rcm...isn't prodinfo included in them?
However i made a backup before installing incognito but i tought it was useless to restore it then restore the clean nand backup
Did you backup your keys with Lockpick or Lockpick RCM?
Edit: It might be do-able, just to make sure use lockpick RCM to backup your keys now and after restoration of NAND use lockpick RCM again to get a new backup. (Use the backup before incognito.)
1) Restore your NAND backup and incognito backup. (Your saves will be GONE most probably, you can copy them with Checkpoint before restoring.)if i remember correclty i used incognito_rcm to backup and to hide the Switch code to go online with homebrews
But i don't get you about the steps you say
creating an emummc starting froma dirty sysnand, SHOULD create an emmuc with all atmos and hekate configs, incognito mode, 90dns already SETTED up, isn't it?
So i just should create the emummc on the third microsd and then restore a clean nand (boot0, boot1 and rawnand) on the first and original exfat microsd
I should not need to re-use incognito on emummc (it should be already setted up) and on the clean sysnand incognito mode should NOT be there (cleaned by restoring the sysnand)
Yes, but don't forget that your saves on SysNAND will return to the state when you got the NAND backup, but if you get a backup of the saves via Checkpoint you will still be able to restore them on EmuNAND.ok then you suggest to restore the clean sysnand before create the emummc
Thanks
1) You need SX CORE for it other things don't work except Caffeine.Hi. Sorry for the silly questions. I'm sure it's been answered before but I did some checking and I'm obviously not looking hard enough. I also find conflicting information or maybe I'm not understanding correctly.
My questions are 1) The Mariko Switch, conflicting info on this. Does the SX OS Core work fine on any of these consoles? I know the first post here says it does, I just want a confirmation as I have seen a few people saying it doesn't and you need a SX OS Pro.
2) Possibly already answered in the first page but once again, I see a few conflicting things out there and some suggest only a SX Pro works. Even on the newest update does as SX Core work and allow homebrew? CFW? Emunand?
3) What are the limitations to this? Can it do everything a low firmware launch model soft modded switch can do?
4) What is the difference between a Mariko hacked switch using Caffeine (As I understand it the only way to softmod a Mariko 4.1.0 and below) and a soft modded Launch day switch? Can you do the same exact things? CFW, Homebrew, Emunand?
Like I said, I have read through a lot of conflicting and confusing information or maybe that information is just outdated?. I would be thankful for any help answering those questions.
Thank you very much for that information! Just one more question if I may? It sounds like the Caffeine rout seems to be the best way to go, I think I am right in thinking using an Emunand with this I can update to newest update on that. I was wondering though, you mention "Nearly the same things" Is there a list somewhere that shows the differences of what can't be done with a Mariko?1) You need SX CORE for it other things don't work except Caffeine.
2) Mariko needs Sx Core except Caffeine.
3) Most of them. But DO NOT update to 11.0 right now, if you have done it already then you should either wait for SX OS to get updated or to wait for an atmosphere release for Marikos. If you use SX Core in it, you may not be able to go into CFW for an unknown time if you have 11.0
4) If you have 4.1 you can softmod your switch without any other accessories. Similarly on Unpatched ones you only need a jig which comes pretty cheap. You can do nearly the same things.
I don't have that much knowledge about Caffeine but afaik you can't use RCM apps such as Lockpick or Incognito but I might be wrong.Thank you very much for that information!
