ahhh, if you summon me, I come ;)

can someone help
yes, first thing first : DO NOT USE FLASHDRIVES or USB STICKS.
Use ONLY real external HDD.
now that 98% of problems are avoided, you will be able to properly debug your situation, well if it still is a problem.

really, don't use stick or flashdrive, or what you call "USB Drive".
and remember, a real external HDD IS ALSO A USB DRIVE !

if the system is unpowered, it needs a y cable or else it might not work. it has two usb ports on it: one is for data; the other for power instead of having one for both.

well, the hdd is detected and the games show up i dont see why it would need extra power

just go on amazon and look up y cable. it really depends on the output of the hdd. some use printer cables, micro usb, the normal usb-a, usb-c, etc.

it needs one on WiiU, usually on Wii it should be fine.

Black screen/reboot at launch is a symptom of "game not found" (yes I know you see them in the loader, that's exactly the problem), so here are the possible cause :
- Missing or wrong cIOS (you look good)
- game not installed properly (you didn't use WiiBackupManager the proper way)
- you plugged the drive in the wrong USB port
- the device is not compatible with cIOS (happens 98% with flashdrives)

so, you have 2 out of 4 to check :)

more rarely, but can happen:
- exFAT instead of FAT32
- FAT32, but the game file (.wbf*) are set to Read only.
- HDD doesn't have enough power (you need Y-cable) <--- Attention : it's 100% required on WiiU, not "rarely".

Good Morning.:)

i SAID i used wii backupmanager...
as i said i used wii backup loader, the usb is a usb stick from pioneer (i know right that dj company) and its a 30gb model formatted to fat32. it is usbloader gx and its R1271.

The People in this Community are no Clairvoyants.
Explaining/telling us Things a little clearer, makes it easier to help you better and we do not have Misunderstandings.

Now you have told us everything, you could maybe try

- you can try to set to USBLoader GX Loader´s IOS from 58 to 249 (if you do not already tried it)
(Global Settings - Loader Settings - Loader´s IOS)
- an older Revision from the USBLoader GX (r1268 or r1271 are maybe a good Choice)
- you can try the Enhanced Mod -> https://gbatemp.net/threads/usb-loader-gx.149922/page-1316#post-8856063
- you can try an other Loader like WiiFlow -> https://github.com/Fledge68/WiiFlow_Lite

Good Luck.
Thank you.:)

i SAID i used wii backupmanager...
No, you didn't.
you said you used wii backup manager
you didn't tell us if you used it properly or not.

Lot of people don't understand how they are supposed to use that program, and manually choose the folder where to "convert" the game to wbfs, while they should choose the "transfer to Drive1" option instead.

So, if I imagine you used it properly, you have the correct cIOS, you used r1271 and you said you are now using HDD instead of flashdrive... the only issue left is wrong USB Port.
Or the very rare "read only" (which happens more often when not using Wiibackupmanager properly too)

and yes, the suggestion from Alexander is good : try another loader to see if the problem is the application/settings or your setup/hardware.
