Welcome, December, and welcome, new Nintendo Switch firmware update. We have officially reached firmware version 11.0.0, and it brings with it more than just stability. Firstly, you now get a Nintendo Switch Online icon added to your home menu, which allows quick access to anything NSO related. The album has also been improved, as you can transfer screenshots directly from your Switch to a smartphone. As of this update, users will also be able to prioritize which games they wish to have downloaded first, when downloading multiple games at once. For those concerned over homebrew access, for now, it’s advised to not update to 11.0.0 until a new version of Atmosphere is released.

A new feature that automatically downloads backed up save data was added to the Save Data Cloud.

  • When using software with the same Nintendo Account linked to multiple systems, save data backed up from one console will automatically be downloaded to your other system(s).
*To use this feature, it must be enabled under System Settings > Data Management > Save Data Cloud.
*Save data will not be downloaded automatically unless save data for that software exists on the console. The first time only, users must download the save data manually.
*A Nintendo Switch Online membership is required to use the Save Data Cloud service.
A new Trending feature was added to the User Page.

  • Users can check what software their friends are playing or have started playing recently.
Information will not be displayed for friends who have their online status set to display to no one.
Users can now transfer screenshots and videos from Album to their smart devices.

  • Users can wirelessly connect their smart devices to Nintendo Switch to transfer the screenshots and videos saved within their Album.
  • For screenshots, users can transfer a maximum of 10 screenshots and 1 video capture at once.
*To connect, users must use their smart device to scan the QR Code displayed on the Nintendo Switch screen.
For more information, please refer to the Nintendo Support website.
*“QR Code” is a registered trademark of DENSO WAVE INCORPORATED.
A new Copy to a Computer via USB Connection feature was added under System Settings > Data Management > Manage Screenshots and Videos.

  • Users can use a USB cable to connect Nintendo Switch to their computers to copy the screenshots and videos saved under Album.
    * A USB charging cable [model HAC-010] or a USB-IF certified USB cable that supports data transfer is required to connect to a computer.
For more information, please refer to the Nintendo Support website.
    * Connection via the Nintendo Switch dock is not supported. Please connect the Nintendo Switch system directly to the computer.
Users can now select what download to prioritize when there are multiple downloads in progress.

  • When there are multiple software, update data, or downloadable content downloads in progress, users can now select which they want to download first.
  • You can set this under Download Options by selecting the icon for the software you want to download first on the HOME Menu.
User icons were added.

  • 12 user icons that commemorate the 35th anniversary of the Super Mario Bros. series were added.
Users can now name preset button mappings with the Change Button Mapping feature.

Brazilian Portuguese was added as a supported language.

  • When users set their region to the Americas and their language to Português, the language used on the HOME Menu and in certain software will be displayed in Brazilian Portuguese.
Several issues were fixed, and usability and stability were improved.

Exactly. Not to mention, Users will want to test the Limits of a System, no matter what. Also, I swear I thought Jailbreaking was Legal, just as long as you do not end up use Copyrighted means?????
Companies like Nintendo and Sony are just banking on the fact that the typical hacker or homebrew group won't have the legal manpower or funding to take it to court.

Sony went full out weaponized [ insert memetic mental disorder here ] against George Hotz, trying to do everything from filing in an out of state court, time the trial to be around a previously arranged vacation to hype up that he was some kind of threat to national security or some shit, having him arrested, the lot, regarding the big ps3 jailbreak. Everything Sony legal tried to set out and claim he did to violate copyright didn't actually happen. geohot never even had a PSN account to begin with, but they kept trying to allege he did, which turned out to belong to someone sharing his namesake and selling unlocked phones or something. Yet even with all the times Sony legal was proven wrong, they still tried to have him arrested without a valid crime to pin on him. Ultimately, they only settled after making Hotz sign some affidavit saying he wouldn't hack another of their devices again. I mean, how effing petty do you have to be? Sony wouldn't have lost such respect if they just took the L and moved on. But no, they had to keep pressing.

I won't even get into the absolute temper tantrums Nintendo Legal has done. Feels one could at least write an Op-Ed about it, if not a short book on the subject, it's that ridiculous. It's beyond garbage that even just streaming or posting AM2R footage is a ticket to an instant ban on Twitch or YouTube because Nintendo legal went full megalomaniac about it.

Finally, now I don't have to insert my SD card into the computer to get me photos out.
sorry about everyone who uses homebrew tho lol
Edit: Actually looking at the update logs, the USB to Switch connection could be VERY useful for exploits. It'll prolly take a couple days to work though, but still excited none the less!
It won't be exploited (and exploiting it would get you nothing either way).

I accidentally updated  guess I'm waiting on AMS to update.

I was reloading a DQIII quicksave a la exiting and reopening the application, which I do very often, so it's basically muscle memory, I don't pay very much attention when I do it.

Imagine my surprise when I saw "System Updating" and couldn't get back into Atmos anymore.

Meanwhile, I'm stuck with a Mariko switch that came with 8.0.1, and the tab says "wait for homebrew." well...

we're waiitiing...

yes, I get that covid is a problem. geeze, I don't need SO MANY REMINDERS of it.
I dunno what you are on waiting, there will never be another Software hack, sciresm has confirmed this. If you want homebrew in your Mariko, buy an SX Core, install it now and have homebrew right now. Atmosphere will soon be available for Mariko, but you still need the mod chip.

Hence why I have not grabbed a PS4, or PS5. Vita was a impulse so I could have PSP and Vita in 1. LOL

@DragarX - What I plan to do eventually, just to get it and have it. But will it work with FW11??????

Okay, if you're going to be a butt about it, where the hell can I get one? I'm tired of it only being listed on scam sites and crap. Back when Gateway was the only real method for anything on the 3DS, I only barely lucked out and got one from one of the places recommended by this site before they up and folded. Safe to say, they got de-listed from the recommended shortly after that fiasco.

I sure as crap don't want to have to do that all over again.

That seems to be working well for Sony too, I assume?

Also 30,000 posts, huh
Considering Sony disabled the additional NVMe storage slot in the PS5 out of the box and have the audacity to auto-void your warranty just for opening the damn thing to get to it, I would need a year's worth of Morton's (and their income) to trust anything from them at face value. :nayps3:

Oh wow that's a trash move by sony. PS3 and PS4 didn't void your warranty.

I wasn't trying to be a butt, sorry. Was just generally curious as I thought the only possible exploit was not available for Mariko and no dev was working in because gaining kernel access is probably too much effort.
I got mine from txswitch.com and it arrived to me in Australia under a week. They have recently changed their name to stxswitch.com, but they are the same company, still have stock and still have my order details saved. May take longer than a week to arrive to USA, but we'll worth getting one now.

I am still in 5.1.0 cause I want to hack my Switch someday.
You can hack it on every firmware if it's Fusee compatible. Holding back firmwares was really a PSP/3DS thing, and serves no real purpose or advantage on the Switch. a hacked fully-updated system guarantees the best chance of backup game playback compatibility.
