Woah. I can get not liking the games, but the controller? What about it don’t you like? :O
I don't even know where to start lol. The fact the analogue sticks are not in line (also why I hate switch controllers) The fact that every one of them make my hands cramp up. The fact they always have shitty dpads. The actual feel of them ect ect

Nah, not really interested in console gaming except for exclusives and on you'd have to pay me to use the shitty ms store on pc.

The X-Box line is a price to performance banger. It's an easy recommendation over a PC in that price bracket. Or even price to performance
of any bracket.

Most PC gamers still game at 1080p with a 10 series gpu or less. 20 series didn't do as well as 10 series. The New X-Box consoles is a cheaper upgrade then getting a new 30 series or rx gpu. Its a lot less enticing to people with a 20 or 30 series but that makes up a smaller amount of people who own one.

I've actually given this same advice to a few friends who were on the fence about making the jump to PC. Pointing out the specs available for $500, compared to what those would cost on a PC, it really just isn't worth building a PC right now unless you need it for things besides gaming. I need my PC for work from home, so it made sense to make the switch. But if I didn't have that need, I'd be all over Xbox.

Worth it to build still if you want what only pc offers. Only doesn't make sense from a value only perspective.

I'm on pc for the flexibility it offers.

Practically unlimited backwards compablity
Can use just about any control scheme you like you for any game.
Flexablity on graphics. Can target 144fps, 60 or 30 if my brain stops working + all the other tweaks. Don't like shit like motion blur, chromatic aberration etc, off it goes. Consoles have improved with the performance/quality options, but the finer tuning with certain effects is still pc only. Can throw stuff like reshade into the pile as well, if you want rid of nonsense like that weird blue filter dice had on a lot of games at one point.
Mods.

Value is there for the console, no doubt, fantastic value for money, but a lot of people want the "pc experience", which is distinctly different from console. It's not just about price/performance.

Xbox D-pads have been the subject to criticism for long time. So let's continue roasting them.

AHEM! "You guys seen that 360 controller? That D-pad looks like a shield plate. No way I'm playing a game intensely on that." :P

Okay someone else turn. Cause I didn't even start with the first xbox controller and how it had a "Black and white" button oddly placed at the bottom of the face buttons. :ninja:

A system seller? No. I see Game Pass as a nice value, but I am honestly already so sick of being in the scenario of having many games but not playing them at all due to a lack of interest. Game Pass will give me that all over again, so I don't bother.
The reason I want to get a Series X is due to the Backwards Compatibility, increased performance, and Dev Mode (RetroArch on the Series X runs great too)

gamepass is definately xbox's killer app.

Ive played so far, FH4, Ori, halo 5 and 4, battlefield 5, and have been really enjoying the mass collection of gmaes that i would have never played unless I had this gamepass. I mostly pirate pc games, but now I sort of dont have to. I am now selective about what to download and what to buy.

Never had a Playstation or Xbox console, but i would consider a SeriesS/X for the gamepass.
Yesterday saw an offer for the 12 month ultimate pass for 112€, that's 2/3 full normal games.

For a games buffet.

I'd still buy the games i really want to play, but with this it's like every single game has a demo i can try, and if i like it, but not as much as to buy it physical, i can still play it with no regrets.

Or if you're on holidays, so you have actual time, i can get the pass for like 1/3 months and still play everything i could have missed the other working months.

Totally worth it IMO.

Well in itself its a great subscription if you look at cost / benefits.
System selling aspect. Maybe ... the combination of a lot of things has me looking into getting a Series X .
Im not a pc gamer (mac user and my late 2013 Mac pro is workstation not a game station by any means) so ... yeah having a console that can play the third party titels in such a fashion, has game pass ultimate, has an out of the box dev mode, and has emulation welll ... im kind of sold ....

Remember if you turn off in your microsoft account's reoccuring fee, and then redeem the codes via gamepass 1 months or 3 months passes, you get an extra month free.

So before you redeem EACH card, turn it off so you can stack few more months like I did.

3 months 20 bucks. at 60 bucks you get 9 months, plus 3 extra months from turning off the reoccurring monthly in payment account settings before redeeming each code.

12 months for 60 bucks.

I honestly don't think that the pass is a seller for me. I'm not a fan of those things, as you don't really own the games. I think I might just wait a while to buy one of the new consoles. I have a lot to catch up on in my queue anyways.

Game pass is a fad. The only reason us Xbox fan are hyping it up is cause we got 3 years of it for a dollar. I have no reason to keep game pass going once it runs out in 2022.

Given a fairly meager monthly asking price, or the ability to convert old months of Gold into the new format, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is an insane bargain. You get everything first party on launch, and Microsoft just keeps buying up companies. But with no real major exclusives on the way, if ever, thanks to their incredibly good PC support, the Series X/S is kind of a hard sell to some. So, is game pass enough of a reason for you to want a new Xbox? Or are you content enough to stick with PlayStation for their exclusives? What exactly would make YOU want an Xbox Series X/S?
Honestly gamepass would sell a xbox for me any xbox

Apologies for the late reply but this is a subject I have a lot of thoughts on. On paper, Gamepass is a mircale of existence and the best video game bargain out there but the games on it don't appeal to me; it's mostly first party Microsoft games, big Western triple A games, and fairly recent indie games, with few exceptions.

The first category I tend to find bland/boring and lacking quality save for Bungie Halo and Flight Sim, the second I personally see as almost always soulless Hollywood-esque cashgrabs and the third I find to be very samey and low quality most of the time. It undoubtedly works in practice for a lot of people too, just not for me.

The root of this is that I pretty much just described the Xbox One's (and so far, Xbox Series') entire library. I have a large preference for Japanese-style game design for a lot of personal reasons and the platform is incredibly droughted of that even in the West.

Currently, the Switch is the go-to platform for Japanese games, with a considerable deal of other stuff still getting released for PS4. Many feel though that major developers and PS players (the people who dictate which platforms are financially worth it to release games on) there are also losing trust in Sony after years of home market-sidelining Westernisation practices (in the footsteps of Xbox funnily enough), and PC versions of Japanese games have gotten exponentially better in just the past two years, along with releases for the platform only growing more common. If it puts my taste into clearer perspective, I utterly treasure PS2-era games like Ico, Silent Hill 2, Viewtiful Joe, Klonoa 2, the likes of which are in very short supply nowadays in the form of the practical handful of games like that released in the 8th generation and more passionate development teams like Platinum. For indie stuff I stick to OneShot, Yume Nikki and its fangames, Cave Story, Undertale.

Due to everything I just laid out, I only see it as wise for myself to make PC and Switch my main platforms with my PS5 as a backup for bad PC/switch ports, no PC/Switch versions at all, timed exclusivity deals, etc. A Gamepass subscription for me is nearly 100 games I don't care about, don't enjoy, or already own somewhere else. A Series X would be rather nice to have for any used physical games/what my village's public library has and the few instances of games that make it onto Gamepass that I'm interested in, but that's nowhere near enough to warrant me spending any considerable amount of money for one.

TL;DR I'm a weeb when it comes to video games who likes stuff that makes me feel impactful emotions and Xbox barely has that

Im with gamepass for couple of years now, and for me its essential part of my Xbox. I never paid a full price for it, (i used conversion from gold and from ea play) but even in full price it is worth it. I discovered many hidden gems and played alot of titles when i have time, because i have couple of hours per week for gaming. Right now i decided to pick some jrpg with old school turn based fighting system. At first i picked up Final Fantasy 8. First couple of hours bored me. This game was better in my memory when i played it back on PSX so searched for another one. Second pick was Dragon Quest XI, and that was the right choice for me. And i think thats power of Gamepass, You don't enjoy game so You can choose freerly another one. In time i noticed that im not spending much money to play on my Xbox. Gamepass is great and it is system seller for sure.

I've got GPU for my PC (and PS Now) and honestly I don't use either. I dont know why, GPU is a really good service, I've had it about 6 months now and I've just barely used it. I think when the selection is too much It puts me off and I end up not playing anything.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
