'Doom Eternal' Nintendo Switch release date announced

DOOM Eternal.JPG
It's taken some time but DOOM Eternal is finally coming to the Nintendo Switch. This version was announced back in 2018 but while the PC, Xbox One and PS4 versions released in March 2020, the Switch version faced some delays. Even after Microsoft's acquisition of ZeniMax Media, the parent company of Bethesda Softworks and id Software, the Switch version was nowhere in sight; until today. Nintendo made the release date announcement via a new trailer released a few hours ago:

DOOM Eternal comes to Nintendo Switch next week on December 8. If you want an idea as to what to expect of the game before it releases, be sure to check out our full review of the PS4 version which received a 9/10 score.

Unpopular opinion, but I am excited for this because I wanted it i my switch. I don’t have a decent enough computer to play it on and I am not home enough to play it on my PS4. So the Switch is kind of my best option to enjoy this game. Before anyone comes in with “But FPS” or “buy a better laptop,” I am very poor and busy, so my limits are buy it for the Switch.
Fair enough but just know the experience is really not worth it unless you're using a mouse and keyboard. That's what really makes you feel like doomslayer.

I am going to be honest with you, I can’t afford to get a better PC, especially a decent enough laptop to play this game. Most of my gaming is done in my wife’s car because I am not home often enough to play at my home. My goal is to be able to play this game at a means most suitable for my current life, which either streaming it or playing it on my Switch. I am going with Switch since I don’t need a constantly good connection to enjoy it on the Switch.

I'm really curious to see how it will look, this game suffers to run even on Xbox One, it's very impressive that they managed to make a simple portable console be able to run it.

I mean, is there still interest on this game? The original ran kind of well enough (for a portable console game) and this came out like months later and the game is already very discounted on all other platforms.

the original 2016 on switch came out a year and half latter lol and people bought it so why would this time which has less of a time difference be any different? also the game still hasnt finished the single player dlc so its not like its a 100% finished and nothing new to come.

Because Bethesda stated that it would come out with the other console versions then delayed it months later and knew it would sell like shit that they made it digital only.

I wonder if Nintendo is ever going to go toe to toe with its competitors in terms of hardware capabilities. The 'as long as it's fun' motto is kinda getting old at this point.
nintendo is never going to change their fuck you like it our way or piss off attitude. they got lucky with the switch damn lucky. but their luck is going to run out sooner or later especially if all they do is PORTS

they made it digital only because the game is over 20gb and they didnt want to make another half game like wolfenstein 2 or code only like wolfenstein young blood or pay for 32gb cartridge lol.

Maybe its a good thing, myabe limited run games or something will release a complete edition when all dlc is done, who knows, i would get one with all on cartridge using 32gb ones imo.

There is also the GPD WIN Max...if you make a lot of money and don't mind parting with it for something that has a processor strong enough to run Persona 5 on RPCS3 to give you an idea of how much power is packed into it!

Still, this is running on a Switch!? I remember DOOM 2016 looking like a really blurry mess back when I checked it out last! They must have really gone out of their way with this one!

That's true. But you're talking about games built from the ground up, in which indeed, graphics matter little to nothing. In this case however, we're talking about ports. Porting games and downgrading their graphics to be able to run in the system is a huge turnoff.

What the hell do people expect on a portable/hybrid console? PS5 quality graphics? Bloody hell people are implacable, get a PC.

No shit, it's gonna look worse, what do people want?

Well the ps4 version is only 10 euro here in stores so I already grabbed that. But having eternal on switch will be so good too for satisfying my sudden urge to glory kill some demons

I think this might get a lot of crap for it being not as good of quality as the console versions, but if its able to run atleast decent I think it could be a pretty good port.

How terrible are the textures? Also, what's the target resolution? Is it lower than 2016? I mean, getting such a massive title running on truly dated hardware is impressive in its own right.. But this isn't a POC.. It's someone's $60..
