Universal Studios Japan's anticipated Super Nintendo World zone will finally be accessible to the public in a few months. The Osaka theme park will open on February 4th, 2021 and more details about what it will offer was announced in a press release.

One of the interesting attractions is the Mario Kart-themed rollercoaster which is supplemented with AR headsets and projection mapping technology. The ride takes place in a reproduction of Bowser's castle and while further details of this attraction isn't available, the press release does mention the ability to throw power-ups obtained from item boxes to counter competitors. It also mentions that the experience changes with each ride. Additionally, the press release mentions that this attraction is the fruit of 6 years of collaboration between Universal Studios Japan and Nintendo's creative team, including Shigeru Miyamoto.

Moreover, the park is said to be collaborating with health officials to ensure a safe environment for visitors and staff.

Lookin' good. I'm a sucker for theme parks, especially Universal's parks, they've always been my favorite, well above Disney's offerings. Six Flags are always great too, but those aren't so much about the themes as much as they are about being awesome roller coasters lol.

This doesn’t exactly seem like the best time to open a theme park-
Either way
Hopefully it turns out good :3
But uh
Where’s the Yoshi ride

These parks tend to open with one main attraction ride to start, and then a second one comes shortly later. My guess is the Mario Kart ride will be there opening day, and the Yoshi Ride is still a half year or so out. I believe this is how both the Star Wars park at Disney and the Harry Potter park at Universal started as well.

Mario Kart Themed Ride should be real go kart racings.
Imagine a Smash Bros. themed part... where you beat the s*** out of everyone... items included!

On a more serious note, I can already see children falling off of cliffs trying to escalate them.
That'd be funny (☉ਊ☉)

As a warning, Japanese theme park rides are made for small people, so if you are taller than 6'2'' or weigh more than 250 lbs, you probably can't ride. They do a pretty good job of checking big people in line with the tester unit at the start of the line at least.

The Final Fantasy AR rollercoaster at Universal was pretty amazing, but part of my group was too large to ride it.

Good timing, just before there is meeaningul deployment of the vaccines? Could they really not wait out two more months or so?

Perfect time to be building stuff... Not really the best time to be gathering in lines or on a ride though.
These are confusing to me. The park isn't opening today in the heart of Detroit or NYC. It's opening in Japan in February of next year. That's 3 months away, and last I knew they had the pandemic mostly under control. How much longer do we want to drag this out?

It was easy to bypass some of the restrictions, as one of the admins left a registry key in the administrative shares drive, which allowed me to get around the blocking of some sites.
