I have no idea why this happens and I'm really hoping someone can help me. Usually I have no problem using FTPD or FBI to wirelessly transfer files.

Yet sometimes, neither Filezilla or WinSCP can connect to either FTPD or 3DSHELL. I couldn't even use Boop to update 3DSHELL because that couldn't connect to FBI. I normally have no problems with Boop.

The last two times I tried to ftp a bunch of files at night, things were going fine then all of a sudden current transfer goes down to nothing. After that nothing will connect.

Tried turning off/on wireless on N3DS. Tried turning off/on N3DS itself. Tried closing and reopening Filezilla, WinSCP, and Boop. Double checked the ip was right. Nothing would work.

The only thing that's been updated recently is FileZilla and FTPD, which I updated because I was experiencing this problem a different day. So I can't imagine that's a cause. Modem/internet settings have not been changed. I don't have any antivirus but Windows Defender so I don't see any way that's interfering.

Internet connection was stable the whole time when this happens too.

Any ideas here what could be going on here?

I have maybe one idea for something to try in the future but I don't know how to do it. Is there any way to force the N3DS to give itself a new ip address? If it can be done, is that something that might help?

Try multiple times to connect (5-10 should be enough). It has always been a problem. It's unknown what is causing the instability.

Are your console configured with a static or with automatic/dynamic IP? It will be better configure a static one.

And, if it helps, latests Luma versions (10.1 and above) has the option to force the WiFi slot connection that you prefer (thinking on cases that there's not an internet connection, but just a local network exists) on Rosalina Menu.

When I have this problem I've tried more than 30 times with no success. It seems like time has to pass before it starts working again. I don't understand why but that's what makes it start working again.

How do you configure 3DS to use a static ip? The final number of the N3DS ip changes sometimes so that must be dynamic right now.

I'll have to look into the force wifi slot option in Luma sometime. Rosilina is the menu that pops up when you a press certain button combination, and gives the option to take a screenshot and do other things, right? I don't use that menu often so I'm making sure that's what you're talking about.

Isn't mandatory, but is better:

Yes, it is (using the combo L+Down+Select). And you'll find the exactly option on System configuration menu > Control Wireless connection (then, select the corresponding slot to your configured network).

Do this all time you (re)boot the console or just when you need to use over-network apps/homebrews
