just bought a few faulty wii u, fixed one but the other has me stumped.
I plug it in and it sounds like it boots, blue light, takes in disc but nothing displays on screen. Because it does not display on a tv i can not sync a gamepad to it.
Ive tried on different tvs, different hdmi and also tried the av lead and nothing?
Ive read through a lot of old threads and all seem to say they ended up sending back to nintendo?
I was hoping someone might have more of an idea, maybe a chip needs replacing? i have the tools to do and happy to experiment but need to pinpoint specific chips to be looking at?
I thought it might be the hdmi but as the av cable does not output it must be something else.
any advice would be great, would be nice to try and fix rather then just reselling as faulty again.

I think you can still sync the gamepad. Turn the Wii u on, press the red sync button on the front of the console, then press the red sync button on the back of the gamepad. You should be able to check the display settings from there.

so after having a further read i came across the ifixit tear down and see the different chips
there is a hdmi controller chip. is anyone aware of a reason why i could not take one off a working(bricked) wii u and place on this?
i have pretty decent solder skills and a hot air reflow station so swapping the chip is possible but is it likely to sort the fault?
its a big tear down x2 if its for nothing?

Just an update, the console that would not display anything I planned on doing a chip swap, when I turned it on to check which console was which it booted and is now working fine?
The plan is to still to do a chip swap, I just need another console that does not display waiting for some cheap ones on ebay ..

I'm having the exact same issue as OP and I haven't had the good fortune of it coming back to life yet...Would swapping the HDMI controller chip really address no video from both the HDMI or composite ports?

It's probably a bad connection between the HDMI port and the motherboard.
These solder joints take a lot of stress and can crack.
I recommend reflowing them with solder and resin before attempting a chip swap.

It may be capacitors on the HDMI rail that lost they're capacitance and they may of been heated up causing them to gain some of they're capacitance back making the picture show up.

Got a wii u worked fine for months then today went to switch it on and have no display and also the wii u gamepad says its can not connect to console even though if I switch the console on it'll switch the gamepad on and if I switch it on by gamepad the console switches on, to date Iv tried switching it off and on again iv tried component cables, iv tried leaving console off for 1hr+, iv tried different hdmi cables, iv tried another tv...I had this problem before but I just gave up with the console then one day months later just tried it and hey presto it worked...the problem is I want to play it and dont want to have to wait months on the hope it will magically fix itself again. Iv read loads of forums and cant seem to find a thread with my exact problem...I was hoping someone has had this problem and could maybe help me out with a fix?
