Hey, this is about the built-in mp4 player in TWL++, you see, everytime I play a video I get a red screen with text saying something like guru metadata missing and then a bunch of hex code, I would go into more detail about it but then I would have to trigger the error, and after that my DSi wouldnt boot into TWL++ for days after I triggered the error and I have a feeling those 2 events are linked.

Hi, I've ran in to a bit of a speedbump. The DSi I've ordered doesn't have any DSiWare on it, (not even Flipnote Studio) and I've been unable to find any other methods since the DSI eShop has closed.

I read something about dumping the DSiWare apps off a 3DS and installing them on DSi, but it says I need Unlaunch and HiyaCFW installed first, which just brings us full circle :/

I think ive seen a thing full of dsi ware if it helps, however I cant post links so ill need to give you directions, so first search dsiware roms on google, then go to the first link witch is a reddit post, then look in the comments until you find a comment by a deleted user to an archive.org page then gp there and there are the roms, go nuts.

Hi all.
I've just installed unlaunch and HiyaCFW on my DSi.
I'm confused about running DSiWare backups. Can I do it without installing them to emuNAND? Can TwilightMenu load DSiware that isn't installed to NAND? Do I always need to use Unlaunch to create save data?

EDIT: To answer my own question: there's no reason to use HiyaCFW and install to EmuNAND since TwilightMenu uses Unlaunch to boot DSiware backups directly.

I have a very nice clear shell DS lite and a cheap R4 card.

I've got a huge load of ROMs on a micro SD card and I'd like to be able to browse them in alphabetical folders and launch from that browser .

I can currently only see 300 ROMs and its slow to browse/find

Moonshell2 can do folders but can't launch ROMs (.nds) files

What's the simplest way the get this set up?

I know I can't play them all, just using this a bit of a library to browse for fun

TWiLight Menu++ also works on DS lite. (I'm the dev, after all. :P)
Also, it can use YSMenu to run games, depending on the flashcard.

Wood and YSmenu still have better compatibility with most DS games. Plus the DSlite lacks the extra Ram the DSi has so is better to not bother running Twilight menu on it.

Wood and YSmenu are dead projects. i sure in due time TWiLight Menu++ will be just as good.

maybe you can help the devs with compatibility problems like what works and what dont. so they can improve it.

Wood or YSMenu can be used to run games, while TWLMenu++ can just be used as a UI replacement, so the user will still have the better compatibility.

Last version of YSmenu is from 2017 and I don't think we had any new DS games by then.

However is true TWiLight Menu++ will improve over time.

On a DSi and a 3DS/2DS that's true. On a DS it just adds lag.

where did you get that info, 2017?

latest is 2009/03/21 source:- https://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/YSMenu and even its homepage is dead http://home.usay.jp/

Wrong, there are 2013 and 2017 versions

http://mirror.gs2012.xyz/NDS/FLASHCARTS/

Granted that might be the date they were uploaded but I have been running White 2 on YSmenu, with a big save file, and is working fine.

Hi I used the Ugopwn exploit on my dsi xl and everything is working great!! My only concern is that i just found out that there is a way to access Flipnote Hatena and I don't have my Flipnote app anymore. My dsi came with it built in by the way. Is there a way i can get it back or that's just how it rolls? you need to sacrifice in order to have cfw?

Try the DSi Shop. If you can't access it, or you don't see the app in the redownloadable list, you'll need to get a new dump from somewhere.

Being the F-ing new guy, I'll ask my NOOB question!

So I've done some work on the StellaDS given the nicely organized original codebase for that emulator.

And I figured I'd peek at some of the other emulators to see if I could help improve them... but very few seem to have their source code available. I tried my other "loves"... the PC Engine (NitroGrafx) and the Atari 7800 (A7800DS) as potentially good places for me to spend some time to see if I can manage some help ... but those projects seem to have largely disappeared except the (semi-ancient) .NDS binaries.

Am I just bad at googling this stuff? Or are a lot of the older emulator source code repositories lost to time and attrition?

It's the latter reason. jEnesisDS for example, is closed source, and with the developer being hired at SEGA, chances of the emulator being open-source is none.

Yeah, makes sense. Thanks for the confirmation.

I'm a little surprised at Alekmaul's stuff having gone missing. I'd have figured A7800DS and A5200DS would both have been available as (obviously) StellaDS survived. Though I do notice that Alek has taken down all of the older links/pages on his site related to them.
