I think it depends on each one, MelonDS has a HORRIBLE performance on my PC while DeSmume I can run most games without a problem and with a good performance (and still with frame-skip) besides the possibility of playing online.

DeSmume and NO$GBA even runs on a potato while MelonDS requires a reasonably good PC and yet the performance may not be perfect.

Desmume can't even run on patatoes it's so bad

4GB DDR3
Intel Celeron
Intel HD Graphics

Can run DeSmume in 20~30fps
Can run No$GBA Perfectly
Can run MelonDS in 1~5fps

Wow, your computer is underpowered!!! @_@ To be honest, Intel HD Graphics sucks! My macOS is Intel HD Graphics and I regret buying it. I am going to get Desktop with Nvidia Graphic GeForce customized soon. Its for my living room only. My macOS is good for travel and in the bedroom, that's all.

I know, my PC sucks, so I think it's incredible that DeSmume can run on it even in Online mode here.

It's kind of weird that NullDC and PPSSPP also run reasonably well, but MelonDS is practically unplayable here.

I understand what you mean. That's strange but I am happy that DeSmuMe works very well for you instead. I hope you enjoy it. I know that powerful PC is very expensive.

y’all be using emulators when i’m playing games on the actual hardware with an R4 card
y'all be using flashcard while i'm playing games through the built-in SD slot

Emulator is a lot more convenient for testing though, and capturing video, and for creating cheats (which MelonDS currently cannot do )

Right now I only keep Desmume around as a backup emulator in case melonDS can't run a game. Personally I'm pretty convinced that melonDS is the future for Nintendo DS emulation considering that melonDS 0.9.2 being able to run Pokemon SoulSilver/HeartGold without any of the bugs that it suffered in Desmume (which Zeromus in his typical jerk-like way basically claimed couldn't be fixed).

I switched PCs recently, now I have 8 GB instead of 4 GB and an i3 instead of an Intel Celeron, but I still don't have a video card.

Will I finally be able to play on MelonDS or do I still play on DeSmume anyway ?

I am new to this but.. How the hell do you play in fullscreen with MellonDS?? I haven't seen much people talking about how they do it..
On macOS the usual green full screen button works... Perhaps try F11 on Windows/Linux?

PS, forums tend to be a bit slower paced than some other sites, no need to double post (especially after just 3 minutes) chances are just no one's seen your post yet. :P Also, this thread is over a year since the last reply, instead of reviving a dead thread can just make a new one or ask somewhere like the Noob Paradise thread.

the only reason why i use melonDS instead of desmume is because of manjaro linux being manjaro (giving me mental heath problems), desmume won't even execute on manjaro xfce, tried everything so instead i use melonDS

Latest Desmume version doesn't support INTEL anymore... 👎 Just get AMD or NVIDIA instead!
