Hello my fellow modders im getting a red light on my SX Core and I dont know if its my soldering or ribbon cable ive resoldered it like 3 times here is the image
I really hope it isnt burned as i just bought this back in october also used a fine tip for my soldering iron to avoid that the mess is just thermal paste i beileveNow, I don't wanna freak you out or anything, I could be fully wrong. But those pictures make the inside of your switch incredibly messy, dirty, and/or damaged. Like, are those burn marks all around the edges of the chip board? If so, you full well may have damaged the chip and the switch itself.
I can't see all that much with the photos, but I would check with a multimeter that nothing got shorted to start with (and that everything needed connection has continuity). The joints over both "SP1" and "SP2" seem like there is too much solder and possibly bridged the connections (again I cant tell with the photo). Afterwards take a look at the joint above "SP2" with a macro zoom, microscope, or magnifying glass, the ribbon cable appears melted in that area from what I can see. Definitely consider cleaning the chip thoroughly with some high-percentage isopropyl alcohol so inspection is easier
Also i reconnected the battery after resoldering and now it blinks blue one time then goes to a solid pink light i think i killed my switch T_T as the NAND Chip is plugged in as well thak you 0reo im about to desolder everything and clean it with 99% IPA
Red LED: Chip can't communicate with NAND(Flex cable may be loose or Wrong soldering)
Purple LED: Normally or your solder is in short circuit or one joint is soldered and the other isn't on SP1 or Sp2
I recommend to clean the board with isopropyl alcohol and to use some flux when soldering
Edit: If you know how to desolder, remove the chip and try to turn on, to see if none capacitor was damaged
Well you could send it back to amazon after closing everything up and try "Oh, I have no idea why it broke, just stopped working one day", but there's no garuntee it'll work.Update for anyone that cares at all I de-soldered everything thankfully the mod chip is still usable but my switch is showing no signs of life at all have to go to my local wally mart to get a new one because i don't think i can send this back to amazon I bought this last month for my brothers kid so I'm really kinda sad i have to work another week before I can do anything with this chip.
Does anyone know if amazon will take it back and give me a refund?
Probably you burnt the CPU unit or damaged the board, you can try to clean it with isopropyl alcohol, but it's unlikely to workUpdate for anyone that cares at all I de-soldered everything thankfully the mod chip is still usable but my switch is showing no signs of life at all have to go to my local wally mart to get a new one because i don't think i can send this back to amazon I bought this last month for my brothers kid so I'm really kinda sad i have to work another week before I can do anything with this chip.

You need to setup your SD card with the latest boot.dat from team xecuter, after that, you can backup your nand on sxos configuration menuJust a quick update I re-soldered The chip into place after replacing the capacitors and I now get a green light and a clean boot.dat error screen currently looking to backup my NAND any simple tutorials on how to do this with the SX OS Boot Screen?
I appreciate the quick response MrVtR does it matter what format my SD Card is ex./FatEx/Fat32? I have a 512gb card I was gonna use to backup my games to as well. Also is the backup process simple im still on 10.2.0 if that mattersYou need to setup your SD card with the latest boot.dat from team xecuter, after that, you can backup your nand on sxos configuration menu
