NEO: The World Ends With You announced

The Game has begun anew as SQUARE ENIX today announced that NEO: The World Ends with You, the follow-up to the hit action role-playing game, The World Ends with You, is coming to the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch system in Summer 2021.

NEO: The World Ends with You transports players to the streets of the Shibuya, where they will take part in the “Reapers’ Game,” a life-or-death battle for survival. Players will take on the role of Rindo as they explore the heart of Tokyo to uncover the mysteries behind the sinister Game in which they have been forced to take part.

NEO: The World Ends with You brings a re-creation of modern Shibuya to life in a unique and comic-inspired style. Players can explore and enjoy the sights, sounds, and culture of this bustling city, fight monsters alongside their ally companions in fast-paced action battles, and complete missions as they seek to change the fate they’ve been handed.

A new trailer unveiled today provides a first look at the title, showcasing the hip visual direction, 3D environments, gameplay and battle sequences, and amped-up soundtrack underscoring the game’s eye-catching art style.

NEO: The World Ends with You is currently in development for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch with an anticipated release in Summer 2021.

I've got mixed feelings about this...
On the one hand, TWEWY was/is possibly the greatest (imo) game on the DS, but then the re-releases just missed the mark by altering too much or not having the "awesome when you get it" control scheme.
The fact that this has been announced for both PS4 and Switch is concerning in terms of what control scheme it will have, as the battle system was such a major part of what made the original version of the original game stand out.

Regardless, I'm still kind of stoked that Square-Enix are giving us new installments to the two best RPG's they've made in the last 20 years with Bravely Default and TWEWY.

I agree. Alas, the era of dual-screen devices seems to have passed. (Maybe they could go nuts and release a mode that requires two Switches in order to be played?)

As much as i hate pc gaming, i think it would work well on pc, you can do all the actions with a mouse and you can make the game look and play as in emulator, or even cooler i think, you could probably try to put 2 screens in separate windows,it would be pretty cool, the only part not possible so eassyly would be using pins activated by mic but you can probably think of some solution, use assets from HD version but make it work as the original game, add all the extras from other versions and you can add something new if feeling genorous and it would be a good package.

I know that I am an adult because they just announced a sequel to the greatest game of all time and my reaction was, “ah, that’s nice...”

The trailer looks amazing though, they kept the visuals from the original, but didn’t make it look dumb or awkward in 3D. The powers look exactly as I imagined they would in 3D, better even.
