Nintendo 3DS gets a new firmware update for version 11.14.0-46

dims.jpg

2020 hasn't been the most stable year, but at least Nintendo is hard at work making sure that above all else, the Nintendo 3DS is the most stable thing in your life during these trying times. The system has just received a brand new firmware update, the first of 2020, to be exact, bringing the revision number to 11.14.0-46. Currently, the yls8 page shows us that a few changes were made regarding the web browser, NATIVE_FIRM, and more. The official changelog from Nintendo says the oh so popular phrase you've come to love:
  • Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience.
Considering the random nature of this update, and the first few initial claims of those that took the plunge already, you might want to hold off on updating for right now, if you value having homebrew on your console. Reports state that Luma3DS is crashing, and that BrowserHax has been patched.

I seem to be having trouble updating Luma3DS. I use the Luma updater and it says I'm on current version 6.6-b16d887. It downloads the latest version and says it updated. But both holding select when booting and going back in the updater still shows that version 6.6.

I also tried downloading the Luma zip from github, unzipping, and dropping it on the root of my SD and the same thing is happening. Still showing 6.6.

Any thoughts?

Is BrowserHax Still Save? I Use BrowserHax So If I Update This Did it will Brick My 3ds?

the real question is why are you still using browserhax? With b9s cfw you can easily back-up your nand which is the most important part of keeping your system alive in case of a brick or pre-maturely updating.

Well, you are alive and well so no heartattack. Why would you have a heartattack?
It's an expression. It means that I was shocked. Normally when people say that, it isn't literal.

You have said that several times, but that is simply not the case. Not in the last few years, at least.

Even the last time userland exploits got broken, fixing steelhax, at least, was also simply a matter of updating one file (namely otherapp.bin). Picchax would have been the same, but it wasn't even out at the time.

And if your interests in homebrew extend only so far as messing with savedata, custom themes, and whatever .3dsx files are still working, then there is no reason to install CFW. Especially because if you get tired of userland exploits, you can quickly uninstall them forever and never have to worry about message board arguments ever again. :-p
Everyone with a userland exploit should install CFW because it protects your homebrew access and even if Luma3DS is temporarily broken, then you can still boot Original Firmware and possibly have access to homebrew.

I wouldn't say that, lol.

This system still has more bugs than the Amazon river.

more bugs than the Amazon river. :rofl2::rofl2::rofl2:

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I updated my 3DS after applying the Luma3DS fix and now whenever I boot I get a crash:unsure:

Can you boot into GodMode9? (Hold start on boot)

If i have 9.9.0 firmware with Luma installed and working, is there any reason (downside) not to update to 11.14?
Some games like Kirby Epic Yarn are not working on my 3ds, i suspect it may be because of older firmware? They are just stuck at "nintendo 3ds" boot logo with no errors or crashes.

My whole life in 2020 was in the edge of collapse until I bought an N3DS. Now my life is more stable than the whole universe. Thank you, Nintendo.
