Hello citizens of GBATemp, please forgive my crappy looking post. Thanks to the help of others, named thane98 for making Paragon and bluejay on discord, I've made a hack that allows one to recruit amiibos in an unghostly state, with normal animations! This will allow you to play through the game with 7 new units essentially. 4 in Alm's Route, and 3 in Celica's Route. Will be updated when the Portraits are fixed.

How to: Drag the files from the downloaded .zip file into your ROMFS folder. This Folder will always have the title id of 00040000001B4000. This has only been tested on a USA Cartridge/Digital, and EUR Digital with the Title ID of 00040000001B4100 on an Old 2DS, so it my not work on a JPN version of the game.

Where do I get my new units?: You can get Alm's units at the very beginning of his route, when recruiting Kliff and Faye. Celica's new units are obtained via recruiting Genny, and then Saber later on. This is due to the fact that only 3 units and join at once via events.

Current Issues: Amiibos still have Ghost portraits.

This looks pretty interesting! I had always wondered if something like this could be done, but always wrote it off as unfeasible. So bravo!

After reading through the post and looking at the screenshots however, I do have many questions. How far does their functionality go? Do they have voice clips? Can they promote or overclass? Does Robin have a proper magic learnset? How did you decide who joins on which route?

Edit: I may as well ask about their growths while I'm at it.

Functionality: The same as any sword locked unit in other games. They can equip any sword or shield or ring or whatever!

Voice Clips: No. I gave them generic voices from other enemies to fix a crash, and I don't intend on importing voices from Fates, as that would be out of scope for this.

Promotions: None. I have no Idea how to do that stuff, and thier Head model only works properly on thier own class it seems.

Robin: Robin seemingly cannot be given a Magic learnset. There's been quite a few attempts to give him one, but it simply does not work, and crashes. It is possible to give him a 2nd spell, and that via default items. I'm likely going to give Robin the Conjure Spell [Necrodragons] in the next update.

How did I decide: I just kidna chose at random to be honest.

Growths: No clue, I didn't check, but the next update will feature growth's from each character's latest canonical appearance. Ex. Ike's growths from FE10 instead of Awakening's DLC or Fates.

That's a shame about the voice clips, but totally understandable. Too bad they can't be silent without causing crashes though, as that would've been a happy medium.

As for Robin's second spell, Conjure Necrodragons seems a little strong no? You could always give him the normal thunder to go along with his unique thunder if you wanted to keep him thematically in character, though in that case it may be worth renaming his unique thunder variant to avoid confusion. Maybe silence? I suppose a tactical spell could also suit him, and would probably be easier to implement than renaming one instance of thunder.

I would personally advise you to be a little more cautious in regards to growths. From my personal experience balancing the growths of amiibo units in Fates, I can say that growths will make or break balance and are as such very important. My recommendation would be to make sure their growth totals are similar to other characters in the game of their type (Robin to Mae or Boey for example), or even base their growths on another Echoes character completely and then edit them to more accurately represent the strength and weaknesses of a character (Lucina might be Saber with less hp and def growths, but higher atk and spd growths for example). The average character growth totals can vary greatly between different Fire Emblem titles, so simply transferring a character's growths wholesale from a different game will likely not be even close to balanced.

Looking through Echoes data on Serenes, I'm shocked to see that the Amiibo classes actually have growth modifiers and bases, so those will have to be taken into account as well.

Now unfortunately, this all gets a little extra tricky in this specific instance because res growths in echoes are practically non-existent. That means you might have to adjust some characters even more than you would normally, since characters like Robin would normally have a decent res grwoth. On top of that, none of these characters can get promotion gains which will put them behind the curve if they aren't given an advantage to offset this, likely in the form of slightly better growths.

Of course this is all your project so you're welcome to do with it what you want. However if balance and fun gameplay when using these characters is something you want to achieve, then these are some things I'd keep in mind.

I mean, I did just make it so they can get to Level 40, to make up for another Tier's worth of possible leveling. And that info about growths is a good idea. I might just Zero out the class growths and make the growths dependant on the character to keep it simple.

Edit: Yeah Summon Necro is a bit OP, I'll prolly change it to Aura or Sagiitae

My only concerns with that is how it still doesn't make up for a lack of promotion gains, and how Echoes exp gain is calculated. I'm unfamiliar with how exp is calculated in Echoes, but based off of other games I'm concerned if say a level 21 Marth may gain a different amount of exp than a level 1 promoted Kliff would get from the same enemy.

Amiibos gain about as much EXP in thier 30's as a Level 1 Knight Forsyth gains from another level 1 knight it seems. Marth got around 22 EXP average from enemies like Hades though... This stuffs wack.

Noticed that Alm can't use Falchion or the Royal Sword anymore, but can use the Beloved Zofia. Please don't use the mod at this current moment unless I can prove it's not this.

Edit: 3 Hours later, I can confirm that somehow, the Amiibos prevent Alm from using his weapons. I'll try to fix it, if I can.

Update is now ready. This fixes the Falchion bug, adds growth rates to each amiibo, makes each amiibo weapon unique, and fixes some minor issues. Please start a new game if you would like the new weapons.
Current bugs: Amiibo weapons can't be put into the convoy without some glitchy behavior.

Got a changelog? Such as what the new growths are, and what the effects/stats of each amiibo weapon are?

May as well add which unit is added to which route.

Changelog is actually inside the RARs, and the gamebanana page states where you get each of them!

Edit: And i just realized I forgot to add the weapons to the changelog. Crap. I'll add it later.

I meant which character is on which route. Unless I'm missing something, the Gamebanana page just shows what locations they are recruited at.

I messed up, whoops. Marth, Lucina, Roy, Corrin (M) on Alm's route, Ike, Robin, and Corrin (F) for Celica if I am correct.

I'm not sure if it's only me, but when I put the version 2 files in the romfs folder the game doesn't boot up on citra and it kicks me out. Do you think there is a solution to this? I've tried on both USA and EUR .3ds files and cia files and the problem still occurred. Could it be because of the dlc I have downloaded?

This is designed to work with or without DLC, so I'm not sure about the issues. Citra never works properly for me, so I can't help out the most there, sorry! Still trying to fix the Mogall issue atm

is this still on the works? i have downloaded it, and i liked it, but... idk, the generic voices/sfx and animations are cainda weird... still, a fantastic mod, i dont know a damn thing about how people do them, so its probably to hard/imposible to do.
anyway, i wanted to know if its still on the works, mainly cause of the portraits, its weird having... generic character portraits at the bottom screen... i dont maind as much the ghostly portraits, so you could just copy them to also be at the bottom screen... or you could add the face and paint them, i guess that shouldnt be to hard...

OOOORRR you could use the amiibo boxes ones, since the portraits of alm/celica are the same as the amiibo box, i guess that would be fair, and it would look really good
