SEGA, again, reiterates that it wants to release more ports of Atlus titles, including remakes

If you hadn't heard it the first five times that SEGA has said this in the past year, the company has once again reiterated its future plans in regards to Atlus. Following the success of Persona 4 Golden being brought to Steam earlier this year, SEGA has stated that it wishes to bring other Atlus titles to new platforms. The latest update on the situation comes from SEGA's recent financial briefing, in which CEO Haruki Satomi said the following:

As for Steam, while we hadn't been actively releasing Atlus titles on PC, we felt that there was much potential there, and put out a direct port of Persona 4 Golden for PC, and the user response was far beyond our expectation. That being said, we hope to release Atlus catalog titles across various platforms, whether as direct ports or in the form of remasters or remakes.

Throughout 2020, SEGA has ported Catherine: Full Body to the Nintendo Switch, Persona 4 Golden to Steam, and has announced an HD remaster for Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne, which is planned for release on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 early next year.

Sega just give us Bayonetta 3! :P
[I got it all mixed up!] That can be hard for it to happen. The rights to the whole Bayonetta series is owned by Sega, although PlatinumGames is the developer. While Bayonetta 1 can be found on PC via Steam, the 2nd and likely 3rd games are 3rd-party Nintendo exclusives.

Or they could, ya know, just release Persona 5 Scramble already, since it's a freakin' year old now! I'm not sure how long before I start to hate Atlus, honestly. They are in genuine need of restructuring.

Oh, and let's try to get Shin Megami Tensei 5 out the friggin' door before we port another old Persona game, shall we?

So... I guess part of the money problems Sega has is the sinking of their Arcade branch but was that really such a huge part of their business?

It's the other way around. Sega owns the Bayonetta IP, and PlatinumGames is the developer. As for who owns the publishing rights, Sega owns Bayonetta, and Nintendo for Bayonetta 2 and 3. So basically, even if PlatinumGames wants to put Bayonetta 3 to other platforms, they need the okay from Nintendo (and maybe Sega?).

Oops; it looks like I got it mixed up, thanks for telling me. That does confirm that porting the 2nd and 3rd games is not going to be so easy.

Most likely we won't be seeing any ports of these games any time soon since Nintendo funded the development of these two sequel even though I'm sure they would sell pretty well on other platforms. Look on the bright side, had Nintendo not funded the second game in the first place, we wouldn't have gotten Bayonetta 2 (same can be said for 3).

I really hope we see more of the Shin Megamai Tensei franchise on pc. The Nintendo DS games come to mind. With The release of the Nocturne remaster i would love to also see the Digital Devil Saga games get a HD upgrade next.

I'm kinda lost, considering all I know atlus for is shin megami tensei persona, is that all that's planning to come?
There's the whole Megami Tensei franchise (Digital Devil Stories, Shin Megami Tensei, Persona, Devil Summoner, Devil Survivor, Tokyo Mirage Session, Strange Journey, Imagine, (technically Majin Tensei, though it was developed by i-revo), etc), Etrian Odyssey, Radiant Historia, Inazuma Eleven, Catherine, Trauma Center...
Disgaea is kinda in a gray area, since the first game was published by Atlus, but the dev is Nippon Ichi, and the game is now self-published in Japan, by NIS America world wide.

What I really want to know though, Jack Bros. VR port when?

Still waiting for Persona 5 Scramble to be released in the west. I'd love to see a english translated remaster of Yakuza Kenzan & Yakuza Ishin.
They could look at a english tranlated digital release of Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax Ignition. The original flopped on PS3. Sure theres a partial english patch for PS4 version.
