There's nothing illegal about using sigpatches especially if you use them for own homebrew forwarders. NRO2NSP doesn't use any copyrighted stuff to build the NSPs either.
As u said u will get banned though.
Theoretically u could use RetroArch on your online console if you boot it the official way without getting banned (but you never know).
However I've been using the forwarder NSP for ages too on my emuMMC and never had any RAM issues.

Seeing what just happened to TX, I think RA / Atmos devs are wise to keep a degree of separation from tools enabling piracy for current systems.

You guys are right I keep forgetting they can cause bans. I've been banned so long it means nothing to me but I know it means a lot to a lot of people. So yeah if you don't care about being banned forwarders are great if you do don't use them.

They always did and I won't see that'll change.
Atmosphère does nothing illegal (at least in most countries). It doesn't even have the sigpatches bundled.
RetroArch isn't illegal either. Downloading pirated roms is. However, you could dump your own and also there's homebrew games for all retro systems (and some standalone cores too).

Hi, I've tried searching the whole site for an answer, just found out some questions without answers again.

The question is:

PS1 games (PBP format in compression level 1 (worse), neither any cue/bin format) will not start up on the Switch. The same PBP file works fine on my new3DS, but not on the Switch. The screen stays black and nothing will happen. I can exit the core with -/+ buttons but that's all.

I use the same BIOS (scph101.bin), PBP files on both systems. The new3DS is on the latest firmware + latest Luma3DS, the Switch on latest firmware + latest Atmosphere.

Any suggestions?

I use cue files they work for the most part i played some Twisted Metal and it was playable

for ps1 you need to use the PCSX-REARMED core the others dont work on switch then there was i think 3 or 4 bios files that you also needed if you want i can send you the stuff i use when i get home u can try em

So you are basically saying that all of your ps1 games don't work on switch RA, right?

Do you use title redirection? Are all of your files updated (RA, atmos etc.)? Have you tried launching the same roms in RA PC with the same core? Have you tried doing a clean install of RA on switch? Make sure you bios files are correct and in the right directory.

There is no other PS1 core than "Sony - PlayStation (PCSX ReARMed)" is there? At least not on Switch. I'm using BIOS files as stated here, all of them were together in the retroarch system directory. As it never worked before even with all BIOS files there, I deleted all but scph101.bin thinking it might be the problem. It still works on the new3DS with only scph101.bin (dunno which version retroarch autopicked before) but still not on the Switch. All files are exact the same files copied over from my PC to the Switch and new3DS SD cards.

Yes, I basically say that all of my PS1 games don't work on Switch RA but the very same files work on the new3DS RA.
I always use title redirection for homebrew. All my files (RA, RA cores, Atmosphere, Switch firmware) are updated to the latest versions. And yes, the game files work on PC RA and new3DS RA with the same core (there is only PCSX ReARMed to select for Switch and 3DS anyway). Also the BIOS files are in the place where they belong to. Deleting the whole Retroarch installation and reinstalling didn't help either. Everything else works though.

Well, im using latest RA and Atmos. All of my ps1 roms work just fine as they always did. Are you using the nighly build/core? Try using the stable release. Also, when you did reinstall, did you delete ALL OF YOUR previous RA files including configs? If not, try deleting configs inside RA folder and try again. I see no reason for your files to not work when the same files work on all other platforms.

Thanks for all suggestions. Just came to type that I did it and saw your post. :)
Just like you said, it was the RA configuration file I was using for some time now! I copied this over every time even I did a fresh install to win some time to not to set up things and start up right away. I guess this "old" configuration file was messing up some emulators like the PS1 and PSP cores which never worked for me before. After deletion everything was fine.

Yeah, it happens sometimes when you keep your old cfgs with new versions of RA cores.... Some random option can screw your stuff at some point after another update. Its always a good habit to reset all cfgs once in a while, especially if you have any obvious problems.

has some one tried the new native dreamcast ports of kof xi metal slug 6 ngbc and samsho 6 on flycast switch retroarch?
Just tested them out of curiosity. All of them run pretty much the same as their AW roms (quite far from playable, and there were no sprites shown in samsho for some reason, only bg).

Sorry to be that guy, but a few hours ago I updated the cores on my Switch using the online updater from the app, and all is well and good except the playstation one; it loads the games and all, the menus come up, all good, but the controller in-game is unresponsive. I changed it to standard, analog and dualshock to no avail. Erased the retroarch.cfg file and still nothing. All the other cores work as intended, but this one just can't be played anymore. Any setting I should look up to? First time I got problems with this wonderful project.

(Latest atmos, firmware 10.2, of course title redirection.) Thank you in advance.

You can revert to a core from stable release if you are sure this is the core's issue and not some .cfg misbehaving. Also try updating controller profiles and deleting ps1 specific configs in retroarch/config/"core_name". Im pretty sure a clean install will solve all your problems tho.

Hi, I don't know why but for some reason some of my roms are not displayed, earthbound/chrono trigger (snes) and a rom hack of pokemon (gba) are detected when I do the scan but they won't show up in my list of games to play

Someone know the solution?

yes, the game is detected in the progress bar but not showed at the end
Hm, never happened to me before... Does it happen only with snes playlist? Try checking the playlist file in notepad and see if the titles are there.. May be add manually if they aren't. Idk really, may be something with the names? Try scanning on pc and see if these roms will be in the playlist.
