Nintendo has revealed its latest sales data in its scheduled quarterly earnings release. The data reports information as of September 30th, and brings the total sales amount of the Nintendo Switch to 68.3 million units sold. Previously, the Nintendo Switch surpassed the 61.91 million sales record of the Nintendo Entertainment System, and with this new data, we can see the system is on track to likely beat the sales of the Nintendo 3DS family of handhelds, which is sitting at 75.94 million systems sold.

In this report, Nintendo has also adjusted its predicted sales of Nintendo Switch consoles for the fiscal year, having originally forecasted 19 million units, increasing the total to 24 million units. The fiscal report also reveals previously unknown sales data for Super Mario 3D All Stars, which released during this period; the game managed to reach 5.21 million sales in a matter of 12 days. Additionally, Animal Crossing: New Horizons continues its streak, as it now sits at 26 million, the second best-selling Nintendo Switch game behind Mario Kart 8: Deluxe.

Makes me wonder how salty those owners would be if they made a Switch pro
why would we be salty? lol everyone wants a switch pro since like the first year lol.

were people salty about the dsi?new 3ds?ps4 pro?xbox one x?

dont think anyone ever got salty over an upgraded model that isnt required, i would buy a pro one really easily.

The Nintendo Switch is cheap compared to other videogame consoles so of course the lockdown has helped. I wonder how many of those sales are of the Mini model?

Is it really legitimate to combine Switch and Switch Lite sales together? The Lite is no longer a hybrid or Tv console and $100 cheaper. Could we combine PS2 and PSP sales?

The Lite might have less features, but it's still a switch. By that logic we shouldn't count the 2DS and 3DS sales together because the 2DS is cheaper and doesn't have 3D.

gta 4 and 5 were on xbox360/ps3... the switch can handle them just fine lol, might not make them a full remaster and be only a little better, but for sure the switch can handle them just fine.
even though GTA V is on older consoles and I do think it could run the last gen version without too many issues, you guys are missing the point.
If they ported the last gen version for the Switch they couldnt inject the things from GTA Online because the last gen versions are stuck on an older version due to performance restraints and I dont think Rockstar from today wants to sell a offline GTA V, that they cant take advantage of Shark Cards.

they dont need to make gta online on switch at all, heck if they ported gat 4 there would be no complaints either, they would sell well all the same but yeah rockstar is just milking gtaV for all its life, and they are gonna milk it on ps5/xbsx too so i see no reason why they wont want to milk it on the switch, its an odd choice imo, but yeah nothing to do.

They are different versions of the same consple. Is not like Sony combining the PSP and Vita game sales together.

There's zero competition in the handheld space and Nintendo still has the better 1st party lineup for kids/families.
We certainly need some competition, that way Nintendo most likely won't get away as easily with their drifting joycons for example. And prices would have to be more competitive. They can really just do what they want currently.

I hope sony won't actually stop with handhelds, their designs were pretty dope so far.

the more urgent question is this:
why in the the hell nintendo or rockstar releases a GTA game ?
is Nintendo shy of asking or these turds at Rockstar dont wanna commit?

just guessing rockstar doesnt think gta would sell well on the switch, that and the switch is arm, dont know how much experience they have codding for arm.

I'm surprised they don't port the older GTA games, even if the Switch hardware can't handle GTA IV - V. My sad feeling is they would likely use the Android ports however. The homebrew port of GTA III is amazing though, and Vice City is coming along nicely.

Because before they were called Rockstar North they were called DMA Design Limited and Nintendo fucked them over almost making them bankrupt. Because of this they will never release any of their big franchise (GTA/Red Dead) on a Nintendo home console. Only the odd small release like China Town Wars etc.

This was back in 1995-1998 or so, but they still hold that grudge as many of the developers still work there today

DMA (Rockstar North) would have been a 2nd party developer only releasing on Nintendo (and maybe pc) if Nintendo didn't fuck them over. You can read into it in more detail here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rocks..._Take-Two_acquisition_.281994.E2.80.932001.29
