Okay, it's not exactly a platformer, more of a shooter with platforming elements, but definitely check out Bleed on the Switch. It's a very fast-paced, 2D sidescrolling twinstick shooter that has a lot of tricky platforming obstacles and such, a distinct boss at the end of each level, some funny character dialogue in a light story, all with a lot of fun replayability. It's usually really cheap, <$1 when on sale usually, so it shouldn't be hard to pick up. It's kind of like if someone merged a Megaman game with Smash TV and gave it a very light dip in whatever sauce Nuclear Throne was baked in.

thanks to this thread, I bought ori (both of them) and rayman legends. I had rayman legends on the wii u I think, but I never really delved into it.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Second one isn’t really a switch game, and is cave story a platformer?

you should see which have demos. though, unfortunately, a lot of switch games don't. one thing I don't like is that demos can't be filtered out if you're downloading or redownloading games, so you might accidentally select one.

I already have cave story, just asking cause from what i played it doesn’t really seem like a platformer

I dunno. I have the game for the wii u, I think. I've never beaten it. it kinda seems like a metroidvania platformer iirc. the shantae games are good as well, but pretty easy in case you're wanting a challenge. there's three, possibly four, on the switch.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

the shantae games are kinda in that metroidvania style. you get abilities to go further in the game, and it's just one giant map. there are heart pieces (squids) where three or four give you an extra heart. metroidvania or zelda-esque platformer. that's how monster boy is. that's a really difficult but fun game. once you beat that game, it tells you how many times you died. I died over 400 times with no faq, so I suggest you do the same. the game is fairly long from what I remember. I don't like the wonder boy game all that much even though I bought it. I think it's from the same series.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

you can juxtapose that with link's awakening (not really a platformer, but it has some platformer elements like jumping). I had never played the game before, used no faq, and I only died 38 times. it also tells you how many deaths it took you to beat the game.

new super mario bros u deluxe is pretty good. I'm playing the wii u version at this moment, but I bought it for the switch. I've completely beaten both nsmb u and luigi u, and I think it took around 50 hours. I have the stars memorized for nsmbu (not luigi u though, but most are pretty easy to find due to shorter stages).

dkc tropical freeze is a masterpiece, and I highly recommend it. I read that it's one of the switch games to sell over a million copies, so it's likely there will be another sequel at some point.

I'll throw out a bit of a dark horse suggestion with Grimvalor. It's a side scrolling, hack and slash platformer that I really had a lot of fun with when I played it for review. It's got mild RPG elements too, so it really is a bit of a hybrid of many different types all rolled into one fun package.
