Opps! Looks like the Heretic download link is incorrect.

Hey not sure if you know this already, but the Heretic file isn't downloading. The link says "ey you provided for file access was invalid."

Hi! I have an issue with the latest release (at leas the one in the OP). It complains it can't find pspdoom.wad, but its right there in the game directory, the same pspdoom that came with the release and I can't seem to be able to launch it. Started fresh (delete filder, decomoress new, put doom.wad into iwad dir) and still gives me that error and quits

Resample the files to 32 KHz.

Did you change the original name of the folder containing the dol?

It wasn't that, but thsnks for the help!! I found out what whas the issue, I had the old version backed up into the usb drive and for some reason, it picked up that pspdoom.wad instead of the one in the sdcard. Also, there was another vesion mismatch when I launched from the old channel, most likely it wasn't a forwarder. With both things fixed, the game launches just fine.

Now, I need to check if decino.wad works with this port.....

Nice!

Turns out decino.wad kind of works. Its supposed to replace both sound effects and music, but all I get are the sound effects and no music

I don't know what that decino WAD is supposed to be, but you need to be sure that any WAD you want to run was made for vanilla Doom, since this port is Chocolate Doom-based.

EDIT: okey, so this decino thing is supposedly a sound pack WAD. It uses MP3, so the answer to why it does not work is right there.

Seems like I'm having the same issue you had. I select my IWAD (doom.wad located in the IWAD folder), and when I press the launch button, I get this screen which reads, "Wrong resource PWAD file." But I simply pasted the new release (WiiDoom) in my "apps" folder of my SDcard, and I didn't change any file names. What did you do to resolve this exactly? Did you delete your old forwarder and reinstall it? Seems like my current forwarder is the same as the one which came with this new release. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I just deleted everything: the installation folder, the wads and the forwarder. Made sure there wasn't another apps folder in the USB hdd as well. Then it worked

This is such a great port but there's just a couple issues that are getting in the way of enjoying it. Any chance these could be improved, please?

I have a CRT TV and the messages at the top of the screen can't be seen (only something like the bottom two pixels are visible). It's a real problem in maps when you can't tell what a switch that won't activate is telling you. Especially when people don't put key color indicators by doors/switches that need a key. Is there a way to make the messages at the top visible on CRT?

Is there any way to have super shotgun weapon order placement between regular shotgun and chaingun? Super shotgun being at the end of the weapon list makes it impossible to get to quickly when you need it, or to get to chaingun quickly when you're on super shotgun. It would be so convenient to be able to have super shotty show up between chaingun and shotgun.

About the CRT thing, what is your TV's brand? Maybe you should try calibrating it using your Wii. Take a look at the back of the set to find its model number, and try to look up for the service manual, where it should indicate how to enter the TV's service menu (it's best to have the remote for doing so). A bit of a warning, though: the service menu usually has options that are not meant to be changed, so make sure you look for the right setting and change only that.

Download the Wii version of the "240p Test Suite" (the perfect tool for easily setting up CRTs using video game consoles), install it on your SD card or USB drive, launch it, and go to "Test Patterns > Grid". You should see a grid pattern formed by white squares, with red squares all around. If your TV's overscan is really bad, the red squares will be barely visible. Now, enter the service menu of your TV, but before changing anything, try taking pictures of the values in the options, so you know what they were in case something doesn't look right afterwards. Look for something like "Vertical Amplitude (V-AMP)", and slowly change this value. The whole picture should shrink until the red squares in the top and bottom a more visible, but don't shrink the image too much, or the picture might get deformed. For most CRTs, it's best when the red dots in the middle of the squares are only half-visible before the TV's bezels.

After you're satisfied with the results, look in the service manual how to save the settings and restart the set. Now the messages in DOOM should be more visible, but keep in mind that DOOM was a PC game made to be played on a PC CRT monitor, where it was usually "underscanned" so every bit of information was easily viewable at the edges of the screen.

I don't know if the messages can be moved around in software, but if they can, than I guess that would be "safer" than messing with the TVs settings XD.

I can't find a service manual online for it. The original remote is dead too.

I don't think I'd want to risk messing up the tv anyway. Hopefully something can be added to the ports so that overscan isn't an issue. An option to shift the text messages down one line would be enough, for example.
