what's the update on the geofront translation for evo? is it happening?[/QUOTE

I would like to update the first scene of the game with the geofront translation. Just to get a hang of how it works. Then I would like to translate the extra missions.

I’m not convinced yet if updating the full game would be worth the hassle. Its so much work and time that could be better spend on Azure.

But if you like to help. Then you could help with the translation progress. The first step is to learn how to copy/past.

How does this translation compare to geofront?

I played the game fully in April and it was perfectly playable. There where some mistranslations but for 95% it was playable. The biggest issue is the Vita specific quests. they are untranslated.

I know absolutely nothing about how any of this works, but I would gladly do my best to learn and help out any way I can.

I think it could be a good challenege to get Geofront's translation in, even if it's just a learning experience to get ready for Azure's translation. And while I haven't played this translation, we could make sure that the official translation names for things are in. For consistency.

With all due respect to Geofront's work, I'd personally think it would be best to push Azure evo translation project, for it is the one with no translation at all. You can play Azure on PC yes, but not on the go. So I think it would be best to close this gap before trying to enhance existing translation

With Geofront close to finishing their translation of Azure around early 2021 I would find it wasted effort to port the existing translation now.

I'm leaning more on updating Zero and wait for Geofront, but it really just depends on how hard it is to understand how the script works. If it's easy, I wouldn't mind getting a head start on Azure and then update it after Geofront releases their translation.

I have been trying to translate scena file M3000.bin. Scene 12 is the first scene of the game. I'm able to replace the Japanese text with English text.

Offset: 14791
Japanese:
Code:
23 30 31 30 30 30 30 31 56 23 32 42 23 31 31 5A 23 31 39 42 23 32 39 5A 23 30 30 30 31 46 23 31 31 50 82 C7 82 A4 82 BE 81 63 81 63 83 65 83 42 83 49 81 48 02

English:
Code:
23 30 31 30 30 30 30 31 56 23 32 42 23 31 31 5A 23 31 39 42 23 32 39 5A 23 30 30 30 31 46 23 31 31 50 57 65 6C 6C 2C 20 54 69 6F 3F 02

So what I do is I remove a 18byte string and replace it with a 10byte string. I did this for the entire scene 12 and scene 13. If I put this back in the game. I can see the translated scene 12. But the moment I walk in the game and trigger scene 13. The game can't find the correct code and doesn't display anything.

Now this is not unlogical. because by replacing the strings with a different size string. I mes up the hole file structure.

So my questions is can somebody with experience with scena files explain where the start and end of a scene is. And where the offsets are stored per scene.

Are you using the decrypted files? You can get both the decrypted eboot file and data file by following what Dokterfreddy posted:

You have to use the eboot from the patch and not from the base game
Navigate in VitaShell to /ux0:/patch/PCSG00042. Stand on the folder PCSG00042 and press triangle and then cross. Now you can transfer the nessecary files to you're PC en perform the patch.

If you don't have the /ux0:/patch/PCSG00042 folder. It means you did not update the game.

As for data1, that should be found in ux0:/app/PCSG00042, and do the same thing while hovering over the PCSG00042 folder, triangle and cross.

Edit: Forgot to mention I believe you can only do this through FTP, and I personally use FileZilla for this. If it’s possible any other way then please someone correct me. Just make sure VitaShell has “Select” set to FTP by clicking “Start.”

I used usb mode and that worked but follow the instructions but It still get a checksum error. I it is allowed could someone send a repatch of the file that would be a whole lot easier. If not I will wait until the bugs are resolved.

I on the other hand managed to decrypt both files but the game just crashed each time I attempted to turn it on. So I similarly would like a repatch file.

It is illegal to share copyrighted software. That's why xdelta files are used. So you can make you're own patches.

As a reference the decrypted eboot.bin I use has a MD5 hash of b8013495207362232dc3b0d41475478a.
Maybe this can help

I don't know if may patch works btw. I did not get feedback that it works.

USB mode is not going to work I believe. Here’s a link to how to get decrypted files:
https://github.com/TheRadziu/NoNpDR...-rips-through-vitashell-decryption-on-console

The method that for sure works for me is the FTP method, although it takes some time for the data1.psarc, was having some problems with PSVPFSTOOLS.

Were you getting any error messages? Also when this was happening for me, I was replacing the old files with the patched files instead of putting the patched files in the repatch folder.

Patches worked for me, although I used all the original files and not from the EvilGoku patch.

Yes I got the same error you did doing the same thing. Will patch the folder instead

Here is an update on what I have been doing:

I tried to have a look at the optcode differences between the Vita and the PC version. But I noticed that the difference is much more complex then finding a new value for the same instructions. As an example the first line in the game:
PC: #0100001V#0001F#11PWell, Tio?
EVO: #0100001V#2B#11Z#19B#29Z#0001F#11Pどうだ……ティオ?
The codes: #0100001V / #0001F / #11 are coming back in the vita version, but there is also more information like #2B / #11Z /#19B /#29Z

Then I tried Dasutein his advise and tried looking in the ELF file for the optcodes . I used the following instructions:
https://forum.devchroma.nl/index.php?topic=88.0
I was able to decompile the ELF. But I do not have the skills to make any sense out of it.
So I gave up on the hole EDDecompiler methode

Then I tried the hard way. And that's manually changing the Japanese text with the English text. If I translate the first scene in the game. It works perfectly. But if I update the entire file all the offsets are screwed up because the text length is different. And until now I did not figure out how to correct this. Maybe EDDecompiler can give a hint.

So now I updated M3000.bin as EvilGoku did. but then with the geofront translations. And this works perfectly. So I think I'm going to continue that way. It is not the cleanest way. but it works. The only thing is that this is going to be a lot of work. And I would like to find some people who would like to help.

Now for the extra missions. I started with extracting the Japanese text from one of the extra missions (C0210_1). And I'm going to ask geofront if they would like to help and make a proper translation.
