Trying to transfer the Scribblenauts Unlimited save from o2ds to a n2dsxl. The restore keeps erroring out (some write error) no matter which version I've tried. I found some old mention in this thread but no definitive confirmation for this title. Checkpoint also does not seem to restore either. Is this a known issue with Scribblenauts Unlimited or am I doing something incorrect

Try testing with just one unit for starters. Like, get to the first save point, backup the save game, then get to the second save point and see if you can restore your backup.

Do you have the same version of the game installed on both consoles?

Good idea. I advanced the game further on the new device and created a 2nd save point in JKSM. Same error when restoring the previous save point and the game continues where I just saved. Tried this in Checkpoint as well and the game doesn't revert to the 1st safe file either. Checkpoint does not error but says successful. This was mentioned back in 2018 [Release]JK's SaveManager - Homebrew CIA Save manager. but I don't see any definitive answer. Surprised not many people have encountered this problem unless no one plays Scribblenauts Unlimited.

I reckon that's possible. It wasn't a 3DS-exclusive.

If you're determined to do some more troubleshooting, save3ds is supposed to allow writing of save data back to an SD card using a PC. (ninfs is easier to use, but you have to use 3ds-save-tool to unpack the data archive after decryption, and there's no way to re-package old save data.)

This often means you exported the wrong data. Some games save as EXT data (saves directly to the the SD on physical games and to a different folder than regular save data on digital games. Digital and physical copies will both use the same save location in this case)

Too bad *hax support was dropped. With the new quick-and-easy Browserhax, it's more useful than ever. But I guess we still have the old version.
There's a reason for that. I forget exactly what ctrulib commit it is, but one of them changed how apt works or something (I really can't remember right now). So, I made a crappy hack job ctrulib to get *hax working, but then that brought other issues. So, I dropped *hax to save myself the hassle. To tell the truth though, besides back porting Switch features and maybe fixing some stuff, I don't see myself working on the 3DS version a whole lot anymore. I'm happy it had the impact it did, but I don't have time to keep everything up.

"apt" as in the package manager..?

Might I ask if you submitted an issue? If it breaks everything else that could use *hax, then that would be unfortunate.

I believe so. Like I said, I can't remember for 100% sure. I sorta remember having to mess with some of the Apt init code. It has been a while. I didn't open an issue, because it seemed hax payloads were deemed out of date at the time.
