Not sure if anyone has faced this issue ever, but when using Bootice as advised in the guide, it somehow caused the hdd to become write protected after the part partition.

What could have caused it, win8 or some WD failsafe?

So I tried using wuphax to install via the wii homebrew launcher, and it says that it installs correctly but when I boot my vwii it gives me a black screen and says system files are corrupted. If I reboot my wii u and don't load haxchi then the vwii loads just fine. Did I miss a step in here somewhere?

try to build an emunand. a good one is usb loader gx. it's located in features I think. after that, inject the game wad, then dlc. if you're using ustealth, I think you need to install cios with a different FAT library. let me see if I have it to share. with it, reinstall the cios, and all games and dlc will work with ustealth turned on. I think this is it. this is for beta52.

As mentioned in the official guide:
Before starting, make sure to update your Wii U console to the latest firmware (5.5.4 for European consoles, 5.5.3 for all other regions) if you haven’t already.

The only method that doesn't require the purchase of any game is Mocha. Haxchi or CHBC will both require a legit game purchased and installed from the eShop. And that game needs to be on the list mentioned in the official guide. :)

Yeah, i know that one, already bought big brain academy, i was talking about the vwii game, since method 1 says that it needs 5.5.1 (from what i remember)

Good! And which CFW did you end up installing to mod your Wii U? Haxchi or CBHC?

My Wii U had OFW 5.5.4, with CBHC and I had no issues modding the vWii. Once you have CBHC installed, the version of your firmware changes to 99.99.99E/U/J (depending on the region of your console). As I said, I have CBHC installed in my console, but in case you opt to install Haxchi only, I assume you need to run the CFW each time you boot your console to use a modded vWii as you would do to run the CFW in Wii U mode. But I'm not entirely sure about this bit, as CBHC enables CFW on booting and everything works fine as soon as I switch the console on.

I haven't actually hacked it yet (waiting for my sd card to arrive) but i'm going to use haxchi

Ok, so, as mentioned above, you shouldn't have any issues, as long as you read the instructions from the official guide carefully and don't skip any steps. All of them are important and need to be done in the order mentioned in the guide. Keep reading the guide until you feel familiar with what they ask you to do and let us know if you have any questions. But it's very straight forward. And I will be honest with you, CBHC may give you more advantages as it enables the CFW as soon as you switch your console on. Otherwise, with Haxchi, you will have to remember to enable the CFW manually from the Wii U menu all the time.

Yeah, that's it! If you follow the guide carefully, you will be fine! And don't skip the SD card formatting. It's a step as important as any other.

Let us know once you manage to successfully hack your console. And have fun! :)
