Nvidia just released this new video:

They show their new 12 pin connector which was previously a rumor.

One thing I spotted was the RTX 3000 series card itself just before the video ends:

Looks just like the leaked pics of the cards.

So anyways, are any of you gonna buy a 3000 series card? I might go for one next year by selling my 2000 series card.

The 12 pin connector was already confirmed by SeaSonic a few days ago, so it was basically just officially showing it off on their own. It's actually quite a neat connector, though. Way smaller, much better power delivery, I kinda hope it becomes a standard TBH, but AMD will never follow suit. I am glad that the new connector is only limited to founders edition and Nvidia isn't forcing it on third party cards though, I don't want to add any additional cable in my micro ATX case that's already somewhat struggling to be properly cable managed

I'll grab a 3070 at some point to replace my aging 1070, but I'll definitely wait for third party cards at the least.

So, the prices have been confirmed and are somewhat reasonable for the alleged performance boost. It remains to be seen if it will actually be possible to buy any cards at the msrp.. and the partner cards will almost certainly be a chunk more expensive but probably worth the extra cooling and less noise.

The 3070 at $499 (with claimed performance better than 2080Ti) seems like a downright bargain and is probably gonna be the best bang for your buck without going team red. I'm a little suspicious of the huge gap between 3080 ($699) and 3090 ($1499) leading me to believe if high end is your thing then it might be better to wait for the inevitable 3080 Super that is going to slot in the middle there. The 3090 is a beast but seems like a waste for just gaming and by the time it gets fully utilized the 4000 series will be out.

A 3080 Super would just be a mildly overclocked 3080 though, judging by the 2080 super.

I have a feeling they are keeping options open until AMD announce what they have. We could see a 3080 Super with better clocks or even a 3080 Ti with more cores and memory. There is plenty of room for both even with the wide gap to 3090.

A 3080ti is probably inevitable, the 3090 is meant to be a Titan replacement but without the limited quantities, so Nvidia will probably try and put something in between the 3080 and 3090 for those people who don't want to spend a ton of cash but still want a ton of performance. I'm expecting like a $1099 3080 ti myself to be announced eventually.

As for any "Super" cards, I'm not quite sure they'll do that this gen around purely because the 3000 series is such a large generational leap. IMO they only bothered with "Super!" cards on the RTX 2000 series because it was a piss poor improvement over Pascal, and they kinda needed to push performance higher to make it seem like a worthwhile upgrade (which, IMO, still wasn't for the price). Although I would expect the usual "ti" cards, 3050 ti, 3070 ti, 3080 ti, etc, I wouldn't be surprised if they also pushed a 3060 ti as well to match the 1660 ti later down the line.

As to prices, I'm still annoyed they decided to bump up their GPU prices in general from past series, (bring back the $400 xx70 cards ) but I'll still gladly put down $500 for the 3070 even if real world performance isn't quite as high as Nvidia claims. My 1070 is starting to show its age, and it's about time to retire it after 3.5 years of use. I'll probably grab a founder's edition, unless Nvidia is still doing that dumb thing where they charge more for their own cards vs third parties.

I have a feeling the FE cards will sell out really quickly when preorders go live because partner cards will have inflated initial prices until later in the year.

the 2080 ti is still worth getting and it will drop in price too when these come out. i could keep using my 1080 ti it can still run with the best of them but it doesn't support RT that's why i would upgrade. couldn't care less about 4k gaming i still play in 1440p just fine.

:rofl2:...in what way? The RTX 3070 will match its performance at less than half the price, and the RTX 3080 will handily beat it out any day of the week for $400 cheaper. The only way the 2080 ti would be "still worth getting" is if people start selling it for cheaper than a 3070, and guess what? That'll never fucking happen.

Well, I called it. The stocks of FE cards must've been comically low (or even non-existent if you own a tinfoil hat). I wasn't going to buy one but I was curious to see if it would be possible so I started refreshing just before release time and on one of those refreshes it instantly changed from notify when available to out-of-stock.

I think this may well have been a fake launch to gain positive reviews from influencers who received FE cards, and then force everyone to buy partner cards at the inflated real price later. I already see the price of some cards is £70-100 higher than it was showing before release.

It's not a matter of "low stock", it's a matter of bots scraping sites and sniping cards before retailers could even realistically update their listings, on some sites it was literally seconds after the listings went live that they sold out. Selling out across some 50+ retailers within seconds isn't a matter of "low stock", it's a matter of asshole bot scalpers. Nvidia acknowledged that most of the purchases on their own site were bots and, at least on their store, they're manually approving purchases to try and weed out any bot entries.

As to some "conspiracy" about third party cards, lolno, because third party cards released the same time, there are plenty of $699.99 cards (I have my eye on 5 other models if I can't get my hands on a Founders), and literally every single one sold out the same time as the founders edition regardless of price. Even when Zotac went and listed their card on their own store a few hours ago it literally sold out after a few seconds.

It's always this crazy the first day of a new GPU release (or at least, a good GPU release :P) I remember having to wait a couple weeks before I could get my hands on a 1070 during launch, I wouldn't be surprised if I won't get my hands on a 3080 for another couple weeks either (at least, not one that I'd like anyways).

If it's just a couple of weeks then I'm good, I vaguely remember something like that for my 1070 as well. I just hope I won't have to wait till next year, my 1070 is dead and therefore so is my PC...

i have a 1060 6gb and for 1080p gaming at 144 hz it's pretty good, i might wait for the 2070s to drop to 500-600 dollars so i can try rtx though

It might be different depending on country but here there are no cards selling for MSRP. Well, technically there are no cards as everything is a preorder, but I still say this was a shady launch (again maybe things are better in the US compared to some other countries).

About the bot/scalper thing, it seems to me it would be fairly trivial to code them out of mass buying and yet its always the same deal so is this just laziness or are they somehow using it to their advantage?

Btw, the PS5 preorders were also a shitshow so congrats to anyone who got what they wanted the last couple days.

There's a bot called by BounceAlerts where they made one specifically for this release and sold it for a subscription of $75 a month, that's the bot all the scalpers used. I guess if one wants a card right now really bad they could use it buut... You can read about it here: https://www.pcmag.com/news/how-a-bo...x-3080-units-before-consumers-could-grab-them

As for me, I just thought to check a local site and what do you know, they have stock! I'm getting one today, I get to skip the wait. :D
